I was driving BMW's before MB - Mercedes were considered "old" guys cars at the time but I was so pissed at BMW because they accused me of buying "bad" gas and fouling my injectors by buying this bad gas and refused to take care of a warranty issue - I swore I would never buy another BMW product and haven't - screw em - now I don't think MB E cars are old man cars - quite the contrary - I've been very satisified and have had 7 MB in the past 25 years -

I sometimes wonder if I’m the only person to go from a Mitsubishi Evo 8 to an E320 CDI. I purchased both cars new. The Evo was fun, but the CDI is a keeper.

The car I had before my first Mercedes was a 1995 Eddie Bauer Explorer that I got when I graduated from college. My first Mercedes was an 1997 S420 and the Mercedes I had before the 211 was a 2005 C230. This will probably be my last Mercedes for a little bit I am ready for something new and the current Mercedes models have lost me.

So if you know anyone interested in a 2005 E320 wagon with only 28,000 miles let me know! I'm sure when I look back this will be one of the ones I miss.

I just got my E350 this past weekend. Before it was a '04 Chrysler Concorde. Loved that car and would still be driving it if it had been totalled. Oh well, on to my new love!

Before this, I had an E39 530i, and i must say i loved it. Great car, mpg wasn't too bad but a rock solid car, ran to a really high mileage, then got rid of it nearly two years ago now simply because i got such a good price for it through a friend of a friend. I gotta say though, this car is miles better, cant think how i can replace this when i have to, although the new CL's look great

Too many to list...so here's what I had just prior to the E63: '04 Audi A8L.

First MB was an '04 SL500 bought around the same time as when I'd leased the Audi, gone when our baby girl arrived almost 3 years ago...small sacrifice

Quote: But my first Benz was an '89 W124 and I traded my '83 Chevy Chevette (not Corvette) for it. That was what I could afford during my med school days.
If you had a 1983 Corvette you would have had to stolen the one at the Corvette Museum. There is only one VIN 1983 Corvette in existence!

Quote: My E350 is my first Mercedes (got it exactly 1 month ago today ). My previous car was a 2008 BMW 335xi Coupe (pic below).
Why did you trade? Just wondering. I like the 335 engine from the little experience I've had with it.

A few that I recall -
1985 Corvette
1992 Corvette ZR-1
1997 Corvette
1987 Mustang LX 5.0 5-sp (was daily driver - well over 200k - VERY dependable and only paid $1000 for it!)
1996 Mustang GT 5-sp
1996 Ford Explorer 5.0 AWD (daily driver currently 215k and uses no oil)
1987 Buick T-Type with many mods (was daily driver - over 200k great vehicle)
1987 Buick Grand National - (garaged with 3200mi)
1991 Ford Explorer
1982 300D Turbo Diesel (over 300k miles when sold because of rust)
1983 300D Turbo Diesel (179k)
1999 E55 AMG (great vehicle)
2001 E55 AMG (great vehicle)

335 is a great car, however after trying E class you will never come back especially if you value luxury over performance.

I don't remember, as I got the car from my dad after it was 10 yrs old. We had bought it in 96. Please elaborate as it may jog my memory.

It was a leaky evaporator, which was supposedly common on all W140s. The dash needed to be completely removed for it to be repaired, which sometimes caused rattles in the dash. Very expensive fix if not under warranty. I have always liked the W140 and have considered them in the past.

I can't recall since it probably happened before I got a hold of the car.

Yup, that is why I said '83 Chevette (not Corvette). It is the cheap 5-door hatch.

Yes, it did. I asked my father tonight. He said it happened 5000 miles after warranty had expired. He contacted MBUSA and they decided to do a good will repair and pay for the whole thing because he has bought many cars from them.
