did you ask the dealer why it took 4 days - are we talking 4 FULL days = like in on Monday morning and not out until Thursday night? or in late Monday and out early Thursday - often diagnostics takes the longest time and these frankly don't sound too typical to me - usually they'd replace parts on a one year old model I'd think not "shim" etc - I'm sure either the service advisor or the service manager can you provide the answers you'd want and should have frankly.

Yeah it was in Monday morning and out Thursday night. I didn't really mind though because I had a choice of a c300 or an infiniti g37. Damn the g37 was fast. It's handling is really close to a 3 series.

Sounds like typical scheduling issue. FIFO may not be used, but job difficulty might. They may have had more difficult jobs and delayed yours until others were completed. It is hard to really tell. I know everytime I go for service C basically oil change it takes 2 days on service, and I have to drive 200 miles for the service.

Also keep in mind that this is not a part that would be kept in a dealers inventory since it is not a high demand part.
Coupled with the fact that if it is ordered "stock" which is the most common way to order a high cost part that is at least a two day wait from your depot.
If that particular depot does not stock the part which when I checked only 3 of the 5 did show stock, then it could be 3-4 days turn around.
All in all, about an average wait time.
