Need your thoughts, hello just bought a used 2007 E-350 with 21000 miles on it. Had a chance to drive to 99mph on freeway noticed when I hit the brake only car vibrates and sound a little when braking from 95 mph to 79 mph. So you know I let go of steering wheel at 80 mph car does not pull to any sides at all. It drives straights also look at carfax no accident or damages so you know this car is also mercedes benz certified. At normal speed driving under 75 mph you hit the brake don't feel no vibration or anything . Can it be the brake pad almost gone or tire balancing. Am very concerned is there something wrong with the car.Also noticed when im in parked position switch the transmission from park to drive with foot on brake pedalI notice a little dip very minimal in the car. Car seem to take a little dipor move forward but I have foot on brake car does not move cause of my foot on the brake. Is this normal I am not familiar with the E class. So I know how long do the brakes pads last on the car the car is has 21000 on it.Thanks .

Assuming tires are OK and wheels are balanced, I would have your rotors checked; it is possible these are bent. This is not a quality issue but rotors primarily bend due to overtightening lug bolts (like 110ftlb+); there are other reasons for rotor bending but I will not go through that here again. Do a search on bent rotors.

+1 to what Pinebaron said. One very common cause of bend/warped rotors is people breaking REALLY hard (slamming on the breaks) when they are cold. Definitely take it into the shop and have them check it. If they need to replace the rotors expect a $1,000+ bill.

If the rotors were bent, wouldn't the OP experience the vibrations at all speeds, not just 95 - 80? I'm not sure. It does sound like the likely cause of the vibrations though.

It really depends on how warped the rotors are. Severe warping will definitely be apparent at slower speeds. Minor warping will exaggerate vibration at higher speeds especially when braking gently, brake pads are in somewhat loose contact with rotors.

In any case, it is a good place to start looking for braking related vibration causes. If it were a much older and higher mileage vehicle, I may have resorted to other suggestions.

If replacing rotors, only replace with OEM ones. Several folk on this forum went back to OEM rotors after experiencing frequent warping with most current replacement aftermarket products.

I think so too if the rotors are warp wouldn't would it i feel vibrations at lower speeds too which i do not at 60 at 50 at 40 at 30 at 70 mph only at very high speed....... What are your thoughts

One other issue that can cause this is the application of your brakes while stopped at a red light after a hard stop or panic stop. The brake pads will leave a residue that changes the friction for just that part of the rotor where the pad rested while still too hot.

Best way to avoid this is to never come to a complete stop while the brakes are still very hot, but rather, slow down well before reaching a stop so you can slowly creep forward until the brakes have cooled a bit.

If you have mistakenly left pad residue on your rotors, it will cause the shudder you feel at speed when stepping on your brakes.

Put me in that column. I went through 3 different flavors of aftermarket drilled/slotted rotors before going back to the good ole' OEMs.

Don't eff around with that junk. Get the OEM rotors.

Not necessarily. The vibration might be present at lower speeds but you might not feel it.

WEll the dealer told me that the problem from the vibration was , it need new brakes and rotors. Since i just bought this 07 car they dealer installed it at no cost. Now the vibrations are gone.

Hello All,
I just bought a certified 2007 E350 with 23k miles on it. 4 Tires are all brand new Continental Brand. This is my 1st Mercedes. My previous cars are 1999 Infiniti I30t and 2000 Acura RL. I didn't feel too much vibrations on my previous cars but, this Benz while driving over at 75mph, I could feel the road and minor vibration inside the car. Is that normal for E350 Sport Sedean? I just have wheel balancing done on all wheels at the dealer also after I bought it. Could it be caused by Sport with lower/stiff spring or lower profile tire or something defective on the car??? Thank you in advance for the response.

MBs are built to be and are driven regularly at over 100mph in Europe all day long.

You can tell there is nothing wrong with your car when driving it at 120mph doesn't feel much different than 75mph. Thats the beauty of these cars. Solid as a rock.

If you've got the shakes above 75mph, there is something wrong with your car or the roads.

Before you go through any suggestions (including mine) way up on this thread, please check tire pressures. A relatively new vehicle like yours should exhibit zero vibration at any speed even upto around 135mph when the speed limiter kicks in. How do I know?

Just be careful if trying out my theory though.
