Is there limit on how many mp3s in-dash CD can play?

I burned a DVD-R with about 1,100 mp3s and popped it into in-dash CD. Everything seemed to work fine. I could see and access all the folders. However, beyond a certain folder, it wouldn't play the songs in that folder, even though I could see them. With some trial and error, I discovered that roughly beyond 825th mp3 (it is not very accurate since the system also counts folders as items), it wouldn't play them.

Has anyone experience this problem? Or knows that there is a limit on number of mp3 on DVD?

Thanks.

I may be wrong, but I think it'll only play songs in the first 99 folders. Try just dumping all songs into one folder and see what happens.

Right suggestion. Do not put files in root directory, create subfolders.

Yep, not only will it play mp3, but I have one of the 04's with a dvd rom, so I get to play mp3's on a dvd.

There is a service tool disc that will upgrade your COMAND to enable mp3 playback, as well as a few nav features.

Search in this forum, all the info is there.

Nah, that one won't play mp3s, the newer ones will. You have a 2003, so I don't know if you can convert without going with the full COMAND system. My R500, for example, will play mp3 discs in the single slot and all 6 changer slots, but won't take a dvd. My E500 will take play mp3s on a dvd in the single slot, but only play regular cd's in the changer.

It's very confusing.

Wait...

You have the APS50, right? And you upgraded the cd changer to one that plays mp3's? If so, then Unclebenz is in business if he upgrades his changer.

Directly from my COMAND manual:

Max of 255 files per folder.

Max of 255 folders.

I can confirm the max 255 files per folder.
