E350 AMG Tips Installed (Pics)
Wanting to update my exhaust look, and taking my cue from others on the board, I decided to go with AMG tips welded on and my bumper cut. I bought the tips from Steve at MBenzNL for $300 shipped. I have to admit, when I first got them I was a little nervous it wasn't going to work. You can see in the pics that the two tips aren't exactly the same. They are the left two tips from a quad tip set-up. With my E350 having only two pipes I wasn't sure how this was going to work. Steve assured me that others had used these exact tips in a dual tip set up.
After getting over my rookie fear about the install, I called a local muffler shop. The guy seemed like it was a no-brainer on the phone so I rolled down and waited while they were installed. An hour-and-a-half and $100 later, it was done. Basically, the guy had to cut off the pipe from each tip to get a more custom length and to deal with the fact that the stock pipes were different lengths and curvatures. He welded on a short, curved piece to each tip to get the length such that the tips would protrude the bumper by just a little bit. He also had to cut away part of the chrome from the tip that is normally on the outside of the quad tip setup and provides a longer side look to it. The inside tip doesn't have that extension so to make it look the same he cut it off. Once this is done the tips are exactly the same in size and shape. Frankly, you probably could have simply installed that tip on the right side of the car and the longer chrome piece would have been to the inside and out of sight. He cut off my existing pipes to just shy of the muffler itself and welded the new pipes/tips on. He did not remove the bumper to make the cuts. You can see they are pretty clean and tight to the tip. The color of the inside of the bumper itself is a light gray so on my silver car I'm not even sure I need to touch up the cut edges.
Overall, I'm pleased with the results and would encourage anyone who is nervous about the whole bumper cut-out thing to rest easy. These guys at muffler shops have seen this a thousand times and cut bumpers every day.

I had heard about Steve at MBenzNL having tips and just e-mailed him here: mbenznl@gmail.com. He replied right away and I had the tips in a couple of weeks (he's in the Netherlands). I'm in Phoenix, AZ......I just called up Scottsdale Muffler and ended up going down that day. It only took 1.5 hours. Fred took care of me down there and did the install.

Very nice job. Thinking now to contact Steve if that would work on the 2004 E320 as well!
Is the inside of your car louder now or does this not affect that? I like it nice and quite inside though Engineers did a great job in keeping rolling noises and engine noises outside the cabin!

2007 E320 W211 Bluetec dsl exhaust tips
Just today had twin dual exhaust tips (flat black w/flat oval chrome tips) added to a 2007 E320 Bluetec dsl, new to me since Aug 09...If you have one you know the exhaust tips are invisible as there are none on this vehicle (pls note Mercedes !). As most aftermkt claims...the tips were "custom" for this vehicle and slide on/bolt on...right. Suggest not going to any natl muffler shops, but instead go visit several custom/independent shops...till you find some exhaust wizards that are happy to hoist your vehicle, at no charge, to look at your exhaust pipes & your aftermkt parts. Ask if they take pictures of their handiwork...many do. After a couple minor sawz-all cuts of the exhaust pipes on each side...they torch tacked each side for my inspection of position before welding on the tips. Watching them put a saw & torch to my vehicle brought a tear to my eye...difficult to watch (lol). Strongly suggest that anyone not just "bolt" on any aftermkt tips...as if you park in public or on the street they wont be on your car long...! I did not cut out my bumper. As final touch, use flat black, hi-heat engine paint to paint all the adjacent underbody metal deflection panels, exhaust piping, and back of the muffler.
This E320 has a white body with black top (dual sun/moon-roof) with tinted windows, so adding a white roof wing spoiler to break up the "black" roof/window; an E63 style trunklid spoiler, and black/chrome AMG grille w/MB star. Pics to follow when done...
