Is it a "chrome" key?

Also, when you attempt to activate a Keyless-Go feature (unlock a door, start the car, etc), the LED on the SmartKey should blink. Do you see this?

Yep, it is Chrome. Have not checked for the flashing light, I don't think it does. It will unlock it and Start the car, so I know it is the right key.

I miss my Keyless...

Last I heard none of the replacement chrome keys support Keyless-Go - they were all the traditional black keys for the W211. Assuming you ordered the key with your VIN number (which is a requirement) I am unsure how they missed this. I would mention the problem to your dealer. I am unaware of the car having to "learn" a new Keyless-Go key.

Look at the left side next to the Panic button, there should be 7 digit number. That is how to tell w or w/o KO.
The one with KG start with x75 where x=1 to 3 ?? I think.

Gee, I never noticed that # before. Mine is KG and starts with 330, not 375 though.

Edit : Just looked at my second key and it begins with 331 so I think your formula may not be true

It may be year based. His is an 07 and yours an 04. I thought that 04s still used a separate card instead of the actual key.

With both keys in hand have the dealer perform an SDS guided system check to pinpoint component that is causing the condition. Mention DTB S-B-80.57/24c.

The latest part number for keyless go is 209 766 15 06 9999.
Is that what they billed you for? It is possible that they ordered a non keyless go key. The Fort Worth facility will still cut and program to your VIN if the dealership ordered a non keyless go key.

They did order the wrong key, and they told me it was my fault. That was after they told me my car did not have Keyless Go. They then told me I could order a new Keyless Go key at $550. WTF???? I am waiting a call back from the General Manager of Ewing. What a crock of S*&t. Any help?

No way is it your fault!!!
The VIN will tell them that your car has code 899, Keyless go.
This is what you need to tell them.

Took it at as a given that they ordered the correct key that is why I recommended system check presenting both keys. As mentioned, no question the dealer is liable and needs to order a replacement.

How much is the replacement? They are quoting me $550. Do yall have a part number for the PROPER Key?

The Key they ordered me is 211-766-77-06-999 at $203.00 and the insert at $24.95

Any more help out there???

Again,

How do you know you have keyless go? What in the car identifies it to you (provide pic).

This will not go anywhere meaningful until you provide this proof. If in doubt provide konigstiger with your VIN via PM and see what he comes back with.

This is my 3rd Keyless Go car, trust me it has it. Keyless Go is just that... You go with out the key. Leave it in your pocket. Proof below:

A.) The window sticker that came with the car.
B.) The "Stop/Start" button on top of the shifter
C.) The fact that these options work fine with the key that I replaced and still work.

My replacement chrome key works fine with the keyless go. I heard some owners were having trouble with the chrome keys but for some reason mine has been okay....knock on wood...

+1

They had to order your key with the VIN. This should have told them the car had Keyless-Go.

I just bought used 2005 E500 with KG from the car's original owner. The car came with two keys: one black key which works with KG and one chrome key which doesn't. The car is still under factory warranty. Questions:
1) How many black KG keys did a new 2005 originally come with?
2) Does the chrome key indicate that it is a replacement key (not original)?
3) How can I make the chrome key work with KG? Does it need to be programmed or should I contact the dealer to address it under warranty?

TIA!

1. The car would have come with 2 black keys.
2.Yes, the chrome is a replacement as they were not available in '05.
3. Contact the dealer (it is probably not a KG) and handle under warranty.
Especially if this was a CPO car, you are entitled to 2 ea KG keys
