Replacing rotors not pads?

Our rear brake rotors are warped. This may sound like a stupid question, but can the rotors be replaced without changing the pads? Or are the pads damaged because of the warpage? Thanks.

PS-I would like to change the rotors myself. I know there's a danger more caution is needed because of the SBC system, but I'm hoping it's not too difficult.

This is ALWAYS forbidden.

Any imperfections on the pad surface that occurred because they adapted to the previous rotor will make hot spots on a new rotor and shorten its life quickly.

Okay, thanks for the info

For those of you that have replaced rotors and pads yourself...where did you order them from? Do you just need rotors and pads, any kind of brake paste or anything?

Yes you can change rotors and not pads.

But:

You must ask the question why did they warp?

1) Was it due to the pads made with a material/contamination that results in excessive heat?

2) was it due to testing on the track with numerous panic stops.

If it was due to the panic stops maybe you keep the pads. But if you don't really know what caused the warped rotors I would change both.

If you want Mercedes OEM parts, one of the best prices I've found is at the MB Dealer, Annapolis, MD: GetMercedesParts.com I just ordered the Dust Filter and the twin Charcoal Cabin Filters for my vehicle from them and the List/Discount prices for these items were $31/$23 and $118/$88. When I previously checked the prices for OEM brake calipers at their Website, they had the lowest price.

Screw holding rotor to hub is replaced, not reused.

Bolts holding caliper to hub are replaced, not reused.

You may need a pad wear sensor.

300E a couple 1994 w124wagon E320 Wagon/,1971MGB Track/Rally, MG Midget Autocross ,2000 E320 wagon.
If screw

holding rotor is soaked in kroil or other freedom oils and not damaged it can be reused.Bolts holding caliper also reused.Torqued properly you have no need to replace them if not abused in previous r/r's.
www.autohausaz.com has the lowest price this side of my supplier.$22 for rear pads and 2 sensors.
Replace rotors replace pads.....replace pads need not replace rotors if rotors are above min thickness and not gouged.
sbc be sure to disengage the system or lock doors and remove key from area.Follow the diy on the forum or www.alldatadiy.com
Work safe.
Torque the rims properly and you won't have a repeat warping.
