Lipstick and mascara. Pick one that looks good to you. Today's F1 cars run downforce greater than the weight of the cars. Theoretically, an F1 car could run upside down, should such a track be created. Twenty or forty pounds of downforce is probably not detectable.

But that does not just come from the single spoiler in the back. The entire car is full of little wings on the side, the front and even on top in the middle where lots of them have a camera for broadcast integrated.

Also not to forget, the chassis itself works as a wing to produce a vacuum underneath the car. The car is so close to the street and even the material has something to do with it.

Many years ago Michael Schumacher still drove the Benetton Renault and was the unbeatable winner within the first few races. Even if he would have stopped driving for the rest of the season he would still have one the championship that year. Major changes had to be made on the cars in order to make it more a driving skill race rather than the car and its ability to stick to the ground because of the wings and the chassis.

If you are referring to F1, that was last year. This year, the winglets, steering vanes, and other bits are outlawed. Now we have a moveable front wing and a smaller rear wing, although clearly, some teams use the mirror mounts as flow controlling devices. For the street cars - the 'spoilers' being discussed are just lipstick and mascara.

I refer to yearly/mid 90's as he drove for Benetton Renault. He drove until a few years ago for Ferrari before he quit is professional piloting.

I don't follow F1 at all anymore for the last 8years to be correct.

About lipstick and mascara - absolutely right!!! But like the women, it makes most of them even prettier as they are already

Yeah, nobody here is going to notice any difference. Sorry, but that's the truth. Who here is tracking their car at high speeds? Nobody.

As an aside it's interesting that Porsche made the new GT3 a bit less slippery (up in Cd to .32) in order to give it a bit more downforce. Same top end as before but now with a bit more high speed stability (according to the latest issue of Panorama, the PCA magazine.)

And to Hamilton. Finally.

Yes, Lulu finally put it together.

I cannot believe Fernando's bad luck - but I think suspending Renault is a bit harsh.

I'm horrified about Felipe's accident.

God Speed you Felipe, to a complete and fast recovery.

I'm in Fort Lauderdale - and Comcast is both my ISP and Cable.

F1 is shown on SpeedTV -- and some are shown on Fox Sports. Both are in HD.

I've been looking around for a good quality, painted E63 style rear spoiler. What do you guys think of this one?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...Q5fAccessories

I know there are cheaper ones on EBay but I wanted to stay domestic. What do you guys think about the price and material of the spoiler? Will double side tape work or will I need to have it glued down?

THX!

Double side stick tape works just fine. I have not had any problems and as I stated before, I have hit the limiter on more than one occassion.

do you put the tape along the entire length of the spoiler or just in a few spots?

The tape came preinstalled on the spoiler. They ran the full length and came with two strips.

Be warned, you don't want to screw up. This stuff sticks like nobody's business. Set it down with protective film still on the tape. Slowly pull away protective film while spoiler is already in final position.

As I mentioned somewhere else, I had an E63 OEM spoiler installed by MB and they permanently glued it with polyurethane glue; its not going anywhere.

It only takes fishing line to remove ones stuck with double sided tape (if you are unlucky)

Thanks! That is a clear advantage for tape mounting.

just received my oem e63 spoiler. the quality is so much better than the replica junk i originally ordered (sent it back as it came with a nice crack and was unacceptably wavy). i purchased it from getmercedesparts.com for $427 plus $8 shipping. i think parts.com had them for $391. these are pre-painted spoilers (they only come in a few oem colors pre-painted). unpainted ones should be a little cheaper. pay a little more and get the real deal.
