after market grills
I'm curious if anyone has replaced their OEM grill with an aftermarket part.
I've been looking at a 5 bar grill with center star on Ebay. There are several, . . .the one I've (almost) decided upon is out of BC, Canada - aprox $168 & includes an OEM top hood emblem to replace the spring mounted star.
Any thoughts or anyone with experience with this supplyer would be appreciated.

I've been thinking of changing my OEM grill. The style you've chosen looks nice. Sorry I don't have any experience with that Seller. I'm trying to find a Brabus bullit style grill for W211 and not having any luck.

Hi mcleantmw,
How difficult of a process was installing that grill? I'm thinking of replacing mine and would love to avoid the extra cost of paying for installation, although will do if too difficult.
Thanks-Shugl

It takes a few minutes. Simple. It'll be apparent when you look at how your grill is installed.
The only "difficulty" you might run into is that the aftermarket grills normally not come with the clips. So, you have to pop the clips off the OEM grill and transfer them.
Total time: maybe 10 minutes.

You might want to check these out, too. I've bought from them and no issues.

As already mentioned, it's very simple to remove the old grill and install the new one........there are 5 -7 small bolts that hold it in place. I used a small metric socket rachet to do mine. The one I bought at AllMercedes.com did come with the clips already on the grill so there was no need to remove the old ones from the existing grill. I certainly wouldn't pay a mechanic to do this installation.......definitely a DIY project!

Thanks mcleantmw. I looked at my grill last night and saw the bolts you are refering to. Looks pretty easy. The hard part is trying to find a grill that I like. Any sugestions for a Flint Grey 2009 E350?
Thanks-Shugl

I ended up getting one of the CLstyle grills for my W210 and a few months later the clearcoat was peeling, flaking, chipping, etc. What I did was I removed the grill and sanded, primed and repainted it with Plastidip - Laugh if you want to =) - I know, jankie idea, but since I painted it in December I have not got a single stone chip, speck, dot, nothing. I have since this photo shot the whole thing again this time ALLblack...point is, be weary, very weary of Made in China parts for a GERMAN car. That's what people had told me and I didn't want to hear it. But to be honest, I'm pleased with my grill now. A lot of people do not like the big BENZstar look in the grill, I personally DO. Best of luck.
