E55 brakes on E500 (fronts)
the challenging part of the front is the removal and replacement of the front spindle with the Machined Drilled holes for the AMG Calipers. Once that is installed, the brakes are straight foward like the rears... hear we go....
Here is the Spindles:
With the car on jacks, take off front wheels
Using a 18mm socket, remove the caliper bolts and set caliper on the side
Remove torx screw on rotors, and remove rotors
Using a flat head screwdriver and hammer, remove dust caps at hub to expose the spindle nut
Using a 5mm allen wrench, loosen the allen head screw and undo the nut by hand
Slowly (while holding the front hub bearing ) shimmy the hub towards you and put aside, i took this opportunity to repack the bearings with new grease seals and grease
Remove the three torx screws holding the dust sheild, remove the dust sheild
Using pliers, squeeze the metal band that is on the spindle arm
Using 7mm allen wrench, remove the bolt holding the ABS sensor /speed sensor
This is what you should have
Now the fun part, undoing the ball joints, i use a ball joint seperator on the top 1st, using a 17mm socket to take the nut off
Once it popped, i reassemled it and hand tight the nut so as to support the spindle arm to allow me to undo the bottom three, starting with the steering arm
Now the lower control arms (there are two), once popped, undo the top and it's out
With the space, i took this opportunity to undo the brake line using a 14mm wrench, then installed it on the front AMG caliper and set on the side
Install the new spindle, tighten all 4 ball joints
Cut the dust sheild to allow the larger caliper to mount, once done, use the three torx screw and remount the dust sheild

E55 brakes on E500 (fronts) part 2
Remount the abs/speed sensor, rub some grease on the spindle, slide the hub on the spindle, hand tight the nut, tighten the allen bolt, pound the dust cap on, put brake grease on the hub, mount the new rotor with the torx screw
Using a 21mm socket, mount the AMG caliper
Last but not least, now bleed your brakes free of bubbles, there are 6 nipples, the rears require 8mm wrench, the fronts 11mm wrench, i use a motive presure bleeder, works awesome
Once you are done bleeding, replug in the sbc plug and
Now your done.
Front before:
After:
Rear before:
After:
I hope this helps those that are thinking of doing it themselfs, i just save me 700 - 1000 in labor cost here in hawaii and now it's time to rest..

6hift,
the SBC plug is the plug in the left hand corner of the engine bay. if you look at my first post on "E55 brakes on E500 (rears first)" i posted a picture there as that is the 1st. step before any brake job, and that is to dissable the SBC unit from presurizing the brake system durring dissasembly.
here is the picture of the SBC plug, unpluged. you unplug it by pulling up on the top tab:

Hi silly question here. Do the e55/63 brakes come with one brake pad sensor or two? My oem brakes have two. The used set of amg brakes I bought only have one. Anyone?
