OK, mine is not doing that yet. I first thought that it might be on the center armrest that looks like a roll-top desk, but I see that it is the one that I have. I wonder if it is extreme heat that is causing this.
Thanks for the post!

Not the heat...this car is a California Coastal car and i know that it's been garaged at home and at work. I also saw a VERY babied 2005 that had the exact same problem. I think pressure from the elbow just causes the adhesive to pull away after time.
There has to be a way to fix this...anyone

Is it possible to retrofit the new style roll top console, into the earlier models that came with the butterfly arm rest? I know that their are electronic parts located in the top of the butterfly arm rest. Will that play a part in the switch, or will it be an easy swap?

I wonder if you reactivated the glue (with the heat) or if you made the plastic regain its memory and it because tight again. Either way, it looks like it did the trick and lets hope it lasts for a long time. I hope this does not happen to mine, but if it does I know what to do.
I have already seen a few of the roll-tops with cracked wood, so I don't know which design is better. I really like the cooled compartment in mine!

OKKKKK so after an hour of working on this mo*****ckaaaaa lol its down by a LOT here are b4 and after pics hope people can give me advice for the part i have left [sorry for bad quality pics i used my iphone, ill take good pics to show u the part left in more detail 2maro] i also used an iron on top of a wet cloth over the leather i wasn't making a good process with just the hair dryer if i had a hot gun perhaps it would do the job but here it is

all that's left is a SLIGHT long thin bubble along the edge i cant get it out b.c. i cant curve around it with the ice b.c. the ice is flat b.c. of this it will probably start bubbling up again, but its WAY better than before mabe ill think of something to hold that curve in place somehow

boghos look how mine came out, vettdvr you're probably doing it wrong especially if yours is smaller than mine you need to heat it and then immediately apply the ice this change in temperature is what caused the shrinking, this process isnt about heating the glue under and then freezing it, it's to shrink the leather to a small size to cause it to tighten around the area that has bubbled

You gotta love science!
I think after you fix it, try to avoid applying lateral pressure with your elbow as this is what most likely causes the stretching

i haven't gone to the car as of last night when i fixed the bump, but im assuming by doing the process correctly and the cold temperature nyc has that it should have gotten cold enough to stiffen it even more than the ice, even if i don't have the heater over it... hoping it's like my images still then yes thank science
if not ill just work at it a bit more try to get that bubble on the edge i have left completely gone and just work at it everytime it bubbles it is DEFINTELY better than before, i had so many people coming in telling me "wtf is this?" and then finger the bubble lol and many others giving my input why it's there and how to get rid of it that sounded stupid (oh just open open it from under and pull it tighter... sigh im not that stupid) lol
