iPhone 3G Integration 2005 W211
Hello all,
I have searched and searched but I still cannot find the right answer for this. I have a "strange" 2005 E55. Strange, because it's a very early 2005 and it has some '04 features, but also a lot of '05 features. I have a connector in my center console, which I am told means I have either UHI or MHI. I've attached the picture of the connector.
I want to get my iPhone 3G to work with my car through a bluetooth pairing or by whatever means people are using to get the phonebook / handsfree / steering wheel controls / etc. I do NOT need iPod integration, I can use my AUX port wire for that. I'm looking for PHONE integration. I would like an OEM solution. I've spoken with t-bone about this but unfortunately the part # he gave me for what he did is very hard to get a hold of and I'm not sure if this is the only route.
If anyone can offer any assistance, it would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
-m

Nah, the better solution is the dedicated cradle.

Click your phone in and it's using the car's antenna and car is charging the phone.
If you have the Mercedes iPod adapter kit installed, it can be connected to this cradle so you can play your tunes.

2005 E500 Sport w/ AMG Package
How do i tell?
I have an '05 E500 sport. I do not have anything in the console that looks like a phone connection. What do i need to install to be able to attach my iphone via bluetooth. It seems like an easy answer for pre-'05 cars, but i have not gotten a clear understanding by looking through the posts on this forum. How do i tell if i have MHI? or any hidden phone wiring that may or may not be there?

If there's no connector in the console or your '05, you dont' have any telephone wiring and need to have the "kit" installed. It's a box of electronics, some antenna connections, and the console connector. It's > $1K.

Ok guys. Got the unit in, hooked it up, everything sync'd up and works great - except no one can hear me! I can hear them, make calls, look through my phone book, everything - but no one can hear me. On my iPhone screen it has the speaker icon next to MB handsfree, so that isn't the issue. What am I doing wrong?
I am pairing an iPhone 3G w/ 3.0 software.

Had this happen on both my V60 bluetooth puck in my E500 and my newer one in my SL600. Has happened with different phones and it's completely random. I normally pop the puck out, wait for my phone to disconnect from the car, and reinsert puck. Problem always solved that way.
Is this intermittent or constant?

They may need to update the MHI control unit software with SDS, reference DTB P-B-82.70/492.

The mic runs in/out of teleaid unit. If they disabled/unplugged unit there may no longer be continuity between the mic and the MHI unit.
Both units are in the trunk (under removable panel, inside black plastic "box"), the mic harness may need to be looped where it connected to teleaid unit. There is a OEM terminal that does this (cars the came w/o MHI have it installed on mic plug for MHI unit). I do not know the pn#......

Just as a follow up - the mic was disconnected from the MHI unit in the trunk, as MB211 suggested. My tech found it and plugged it back in, everything works brilliantly. In case others are wondering, I used part #B6 787 5878 - around $380.

Correct however, MAR06 a MHI software update released for MY05 (vehicles without voice control) to address poor hands free quality specifically persons in vehicle not being heard.
