J.D. Power Survey

I received a J.D. Power New Vehicle Owner Survey today. There are 14 questions with responses in check boxes. There is a 'other' section to write in an uncovered feature.
I plan to point out my problems with pulling to the right, noisy wipers, radio static, radio fading in and out, road noise from the tires, scratch at delivery, and failure to communicate status of the Command.

Has anyone here received a survey, and if so, are you going to reply?

survey is sent out randomly

I received one yesterday.

basically, you report all good or bad in your new e honestly.

I am going to report the brake sound problem, etc.

Otto, any relation to the Mod over at AVS?

I think it is fair to say that we love our Es as much as we dislike the faults that exist in these vehicles. In fact, it is probably true that those very flaws disgust us because we love our cars so much (and paid an arm and a leg for them). IF I receive the survey, I will certainly put in the good and the bad.

I hope my E55 does not have the same W211 G1 issues that I am facing now. Although, I know that is too much to expect...

If you are too pickey, and as a result listing too many negs in the J.D. Power New Vehicle Owner Survey, which might result in putting the new E into the 15 - 25 ranking, it will depreciate much faster; consequently affecting you in a neg. way.

Assuming MB will announce my car cannot be retrofitted with the navi as reported elsewhere in this forum, and MB does nothing to make amends, I will be selling it for a Lexus in short order, most likely long before the JD Power survey is published. I have had cars in the past that had unflattering JD Power ratings and the depreciation rate was not influenced. The market dictates depreciation, and the rating service is one of many factors in the purchasing decision.

I gave 10 for satisfaction

monakh,

this survey only focuses on problems from

transmission
exterior
interior
handling
electrics
havc
etc.

you report the problems that happen in your car. the only good thing you can give is the satisfaction which I gave 10 -- top of it.

I sent out the same survey for my bimmer a few years ago. be honest, bmw does a better job.

this survey does not include services which I think my local bmw dealer also beats mb dealer. (bmw dealer can arrange services quickly and provides me a loaner car where mb dealer schedules me a service a month later and only offers me a ride to train station.)

"... mb dealer schedules me a service a month later and only offers me a ride to train station." Otto

Are you living/working that far away from the MB dealership, that a car is not provided? :o

I live within 5 miles from either my home or train station to mb dealer

I think this is a service issue. my bmw dealer does not care how far I live and gives me a loaner car. as long as I fill up the gas when I return it -- this is a new policy, before this year, I didn't even need to fill up the gas and return the car. (actually, I only drive less than 5 miles so it is not necessay to fill up gas.)

I also get free maintainences from my local bmw dealer within my warranty which includes oil change, etc. I don't think mb offers me the same kinds of services under its warranty.

anyway, I guess there are a lot of good mb dealers but I just face the "no good" local one.

Exactly, JD Power and Consumer Reports has never has nice things to say about the CLK and yet resale value has been very good.

The market will decide value.

The CLK

Actually has one of the highest resale values in the world (anywhere). No one can quite figure out why. Certainly for a two-door coupe, this is an exceptional fact.

JD Power is not the end all, be all--and of course, MB knows it.

actually, it is not as bad as I thought

I got a lift from service center to train station with ML calss when I came back, I got S class from train station to service center.

actually, it is not bad as I thought for this free ride services.

no gas refill issue,
no accident insurance issues,
no adjust car seat, mirrors, etc. issue.
you can totally relax in the back seat.

the "chauffeur" picked me up on the exact time and he is a very polite gentleman. I enjoy this free ride services.

regarding the car service schedule issue -- wait for a month !!!

I guess either

there are a lot of people in my area drive mb cars

or

there are a lot of problems in the mb cars

I wonder how much Mercedes-Benz would care about JD Power if it were possible for it to be among the top 5 or top 10?
