Cool Old member returning...got some questions

Used to be on here years back, had a Brilliant Silver 03' E320. Now I got a Flint Grey 07' E350 4matic AMG. Much nicer IMO.

Here are some pics. Sorry, I have them save straight from the add, got it pre-owned with 15k miles!!!

Now, I have a couple of questions. What are some performance modifications for these cars?? Other than exhaust, more like computer & intake stuff. I wanna make this thing go faster.

I already debaged the trunk, and installed clear bumper corners. Made a HUGE difference in appearance! Also bought a E63 AMG spoiler, but it's not on yet.

Good looking color. The black/white cliche is so overused. While there are 'performance' parts for MBZ, they are very expensive and produce little gain. If you want a faster E-class, look for an E550, E55, or E63. Of course, owners of those cars also want to go faster so best solution is a twin-turbo 511+ Chevy with Dart heads. That will give you an easy 1,000 bhp. Enjoy your car.

Yea I understand that, just wondering about stuff I can do to it. It's quick, but I want to see if I can go more. Computers?

I had a new E350 as a loaner. I was impressed with how quick it was around town.

There are many threads about adding torque/horsepower and modification. Very few people mention how much they spend for a 5, 10, or 15% increase, but we all know it's expensive. It's also a hobby, so it's not economically justified. Speed costs money - how fast do you want to go?

My E500 is both fast and quick. It is as fast/quick as a E55 or a V12TT? No, but it's still faster than 95% of the cars on the road. I'm focusing upon a few cosmetic changes and electronics integration. I'm also focusing upon enjoying the car. Enjoy yours - it's a wonderful automobile.

Tru! The E350 does feel very quick around town. I think it compares with the 03-06 E500. I'm very knowledgeable about modifying etc, it's my hobby. I have a 02' Dakota CC R/T that's my project vehicle right now. I'm going to search for some kind of computer/chip mods for this car. I jsut want it to be faster, just for fun.

Nice car. Ya the 350 feels faster around town, but I don't think you can compare it to the 500. Ya, I'm looking into a spoiler as well, OEM or OEM style carbon fiber.

Get ECU tune and exhaust to make faster. Not much else out there. The 320s and 500s had more mods out there (same with 55). Also, you can get camshafts and headers from kleemann but that will drive the price of mods WAY up.

E 350
Great car.. I test drove a few E350's but just happened to find an E 550 with 19k miles. If you want to increase your throttle output .. look into getting a Sprint Booster. It does not give you more HP but it increase the throttle response delay providing instant acceleration. Cost about 200-300. http://www.sprintboostersales.com/

All the MBZ units are $329.99, or almost as much as some of the ECU 'tunes.' I wonder about compatibility.

What does an ECU tune do? I'm hoping add hp/tq, change timing, more aggressive shifting...

I looked at the prices for cams, headers, low restriction exhaust, pulley, and ECU tune. You could 'almost' buy a nice 502 twin-turbo and have a nice little 1,000 bhp car. I watched this tweak frenzy when I had a TR and Bob Norwood was putting 1,000 bhp TRs on the streets -- for less than these collections of tweaks to gain 20% or so.

powerchipgroup.com, kleemann, renntech. They all have ecu tunes for most of the MBs. There are a lot of exhaust manufacturers, see what you like. For the headers, kleemann makes them (however they do not have sport camshafts available for the M272 engines).

Read here - particularly the AMGish threads, chase the URLs they mention, and do some searching. Soon you'll have many references.
