Without mods, there's no way to get them to automatically turn on.

Why on earth would anyone put HID's in their fog lights?? That defeats the purpose of the fogs and will cause them to reflect back into your eyes. Its a dangerous thing to do!!Hope you are unable to use them!

b.c. there's rarely any HEAVY fog here... the times there has been i havent even put the fogs on... idc about the "safety" of it i wanna know what mods i can do... is there any custom work i can perform on the switch itself? (a friend of mine who owns a scion has pulled that one off, but our cars computers are way to hi-tech)

You should first check to see whether or not fog light operation is permitted without headlights in the state you live in - it is permitted in certain states, and not in others. Operation without headlights is usually best in very very poor driving conditions (heavy fog, snow).

As stated above, I'm a bit confused as to why you would put HIDs in fog lights. They produce far too much light in the wrong color, and would produce additional glare to other drivers, keeping in mind that all of us are 'other drivers'. Fog lights as their name implies should be used in adverse visibility conditions only.

thats how everyone here is... in NY everyone does it guess its how we do over here... and i do not just want to have the fogs on... b.c. i can do that right now i want the fogs to turn on with the head lights (there is a screw in all our grills that can change the angle of the fogs... i have faced them downward so all the light emits to the ground and not in peoples eyes... i just want an answer or an idea for a possible mod... other than that i do not want to hear safety or hazards it may cause

Saying that reduces a bit your chances to get proper replies. Anyway the design as it is now is based on the legal requirements in Europe (at least) that fogs should not remain switched on unintentionally. If you turn fogs on, they would automatically turn off once the car has been switched off. If this is not a US requirement, I guess MB just has not bothered to build a US specific light switch.

Perhaps you should buy a W212, no specific/separate fogs any more with the intelligent lights option but the DLR lights would remain on at low power even when head lights are on.
