How many of you owners ( not leased) have purchased an extended warranty? Do you feel it is a good investment?

Since I never keep my car for more than 2 years, I deem it unnecessary to purchase any extended warranty.

I have never purchased an extended warranty before. I keep my cars for a long time and with the high repair costs of a MB I decided to get one this time.

I also keep my cars a long time. I have never bought an extended warranty in the past, but I may buy one this time. My dealer told me I have up to one year from date of purchase to buy their extended warranty. I haven't decided yet. Figure I'll give it the first year and decide then. It's on my calendar!

we purchased it because we thought it was a great idea for only $2300. we are sure it will have problems and we also know that if something goes wrong, most likely, they cant just order a small part, they need to order the main cpu unit. like posted above, if u are going to keep your car for some time, you should get it

You may not have this one that long (as in get a new one with navigation:p )Maybe I better wait to see what happens. Seriously, not really sure how long I will keep the car past the 4 years and like Sue, I have a year to decide.

I have a year to decide if I want the purchase the warranty or not. I will keep my car longer than four years. I have not decided yet. Hope to hear feedback on this site from people that have had there cars longer than four years and what kinds of problems they have had and was it covered by the warranty? Liked to hear pros and cons of the purchase of the warranty?

By the way, they told me the cost for the extended warranty was $2,995, so now I'm interested what everyone is paying. Was it really $2,300 if you bought at the time of car purchase, and if so, they didn't tell me that.
I only drive about 5,000 miles a year, so an extended warranty would only take me to 35,000 miles--probably a pretty good deal for Mercedes!

If you want a good deal on an M-B extended warranty, you can get a great price from Lisa Lehrbaum @ lisamariechico@yahoo.com. I paid $1790 for the 7 yr/100K contract through her.
Given the newness and quirkyness of this car, I would highly recommend getting one of you plan to own this car for more than 4 years!

The dealer usually always offer/push the extended warranty. Of course, they always quote the high retail price at first (I think they initially quoted about $2500). The price can easily be brought down by a little haggling. I hemmed and hawed, mentioning that the extended warranty can be purchased before a year has expired (thanks to info found from this forum). I agreed to buy it when they offered it for $1800.
