Yipee,my car exists!!!!!!!
I just spoke to my dealer today and I just received confirmation that my car is made and delivery will be in the second or third week of April!!!!!
He will give me all the delivery and chassis details next week.
I spoke to him about the COMMAND and he said that it is prewired for it (all Australian spec 320 and 500's are) and they will start to deliver retrofits at the latest by September and they are coming fitted straight from the factory in mid/late March.
He (dealer sales manager) said that he is willing to sign a written personal guarentee that the car can be fitted with the new DVD system when I pick the car up.
So now the final wait begins..............

Congratulations!! I am really excited also as my new 2003 E320 is ready and we are waiting for the boat, should receive it the last week of March. Happy Driving

It's been a long wait from the first time I walked into the showroom on the 15th July 2002 and searched the Web for MB forums and registered that same day.
Buying a new car is a big deal in our family.
Besides the listed BMW the last car I bought was a new 1989 BMW 318i which we replaced with the new one and before that is my current car, a then new 1986 MB 230E which we will keep.
So as you can tell it's been an expensive few years with two new cars in such a short period of time (at least for us).
Anyway to those who are interested I will keep you well informed of any developments.

The first Pewter/Stone E Class I was expecting to see in the metal I thought would be mine in about a month as that combination is rare here but just two hours ago I just saw a E240 Classic in those colors parked on the side of the road.
Wow!!! I am so delighted with this combination I just can't wait till mine arrives.
How the E Class brochure can call this a "possible" color is beyond be- IMHO it's the most elegant combination around by a mile.

I'll be in Melbourne in mid-April (minus the car, unfortunately) so I intend to visit a dealer or two to help with the withdrawal symptoms and to pick up accessories I can't buy at home. Any news on an Aust/NZ CD for the Audio 50 Nav system? What Melbourne dealer has the best range of accessories?

Mercedes Benz of Melbourne in South Melbourne are big and owned by Mercedes Benz Australia so they tend to have the biggest range and access to more available accessories in stock.
Even though I did not buy my car there they are quite good to deal with.
Worrells Motors in Toorak (where I bought mine from) are also good for customer service but really all Benz dealers have access to all that's available but some will have it in stock,others may have to order it in.

Thanks for the info. I'll visit the one you recommend.
I hope you enjoy your car as much as I am enjoying mine in the two weeks/1,000 km since I got it from the dealer. So far - no problems at all. They gave me an hour's tuition just after I picked it up and that helped a lot with understanding the differences and new model features introduced since my last car.
