An E600, is this ligit?

I was driving on the 101 freeway yesterday and I noticed a green W211. I pull up next to it and behind the front wheel wells was a V12 emblem. I then pulled up behind the car and it showed E600, with dual straight exhausts sticking out of the rear apron. It still had the dealer tag "Keyes European" in Van Nuys. I cannot find any mention of an E600 anywhere on the net. Is this car for real?

Ya might try...

Ya might try PMing MBWorld member EmmTee, and directing his attention to this thread. He might have some inside intel regarding this.

YMMV,

I remember that one of the big mod companies had dropped the new biturbo engine into an E, so that would make an E600 I suppose.

A V-12 in an E

I thought the 600 engine was a V-12 I cannot believe that they could fit that size engine in an E. The v-8 just fits, same is true for the 540. I have read on the Bimmer Boards about people re-badging their cars, could be the case here.

I don't think it is a real 600 engine. I know brabus will shoehorn a V12 engine in the E-class but they will badge it "EV12". No other tuner will put a V12 engine in the E, they might increase displacement to 6.1 liters, but still wouldnt badge anything "E600".

Unhappy

I raise the BS flag on this one.... any reputable tuner would not be afraid to proclaim the status of the car unless it was intended to be a sleeper - and even then, it would probably be debadged.

I think this guy just wishes he had a V12 under his hood, much like the guy i saw with a W203 Sedan with CLK320 Badges on the rear of his car, or the guy with S600 //AMG badges on his car.

I'm going to swing by the dealership that this car had on its license frame and inquire. The car was very stock looking as it did not have any body kit, super low profile tires, just stock except for those badges and the left and right side rear exhausts. The car was very elegant looking in Everest Green with Stone interior. There was a an older white haired man driving. Didn't look like the type who would rebadge his car to something it's not.
