Blasted tele-aid message
This can't be right... drove to the dealer and the svc manager told me this would always show up until i subscribe to tele-aid again... and to get used to it.
Makes no sense.
Any experience with this message here? Is it really a nagging upsell message?

I think that service manager doesn't know what he's talking about. I certainly don't have this message in my car and I am currently not subscribed to Tele-Aid

@ Iboudreau: Your message has been disabled with SDS perhaps just like I did it on my car. It's annoying as hell.
@ GarryC: Go in and ask if they would turn it off real quick with their SDS. They usually do that for free since that takes someone who knows it 5 min or less.

The dealer is right - the way your car is right now, it will always show up unless you subscribe to the tele-aid service.
BUT what he didn't tell you is that the annoying message can be turned off by the service department. They have to connect your car to the Mercedes SDS (Star Diagnostic System) to do it. As another said - it takes 5 minutes. Some dealers will do it, others won't.

The message can be turned of with SDS. Previously, this action was "not allowed" by MB. This policy has recently been changed, but MB does require you to fill out a form requesting the message disabled.......

I didn't have to fill out anything. I just stopped by my SA and asked if his shop foreman Sam could do that real quick. A coffee later my car was healed from this annoying message. No questions asked.

Just to reiterate, your MB Dealer can disable the monder unit to stop the annoying message. I had the same issue after my Tele-aid subscription ran out in 2005 and the MB Dealer originally told me they couldn't do anything about it other than to resubscribe to the service which I didn't want. About six months later for routine service I again asked this to be fixed and someone smarter than the other visit got the message eliminated. Now I believe there is a TSB that explains how to disable the dang thing so all MB Dealers should know how to do it.

Have dealer perform DTB P-B-82.95/636a, "Instrument Cluster Message – “SOS TeleAid not Activated”"
This DTB indeed calls for dealer to get you to sign form saying you approve.
