Just came from a dealer.. this is about bluetooth in my '03 e500

So after reading these forums I came to the conclusion that all '03 w211's were pre wired for phone's... all I had to do was buy the puck with tail and it would plug into something after removing the false floor of the center console glovebox...
The Service rep that supposedly new what he was talking about said after opening my glovebox and not seeing the v60 cradle thingy that my car was not prewired for a cellphone.. so I'd need the puck then something else really expensive.. can anyone clarify? .. I just about ordered a puck and tail off of Ebay for $280 to do it myself but now I'm not sure....

ok.. just pulled up the fake floor.. buncha wiring under there.. and only one set of wires with a connector that's not being used.. it's a rectangle plug.. about an inch or so long and a half inch or less wide... is this where the tail plugs into?

Yep, that's it. I used the cradle with a BMW puck, all from ebay, under $225 for all. If you go this route, make sure that the cradle has the same connection as the one you describe, the first cradle I bought had a RJ45 type connector for a different MB model. The puck & tail should plug right in.

Did this connection ever work for you? I tried the same thing, after bringing it to the dealer they said that it won't work. I actually plugged in the V60 Puck/Tail and it never lit up. What was your conclusion to this? Thanks..I'd like to try it again if it's possible.

They said my car was never wired with the phone modules in the trunk etc.

You don't need to have the phone modules in the trunk. The "puck with tail" plugs in as indicated above and interacts with the teleaid unit, IIRC.

Once you plugged it in did it light up? Is there a fuse or something?

sorry for the late response.... actually I never went further with this since on ebay at the time there was no more puck with tail... only pucks. i haven't been checking regularly on ebay but am going to start again and will post any findings.. as far as I'm concerned and after researching... that if I can find a puck with tail it should work... possibly need to get it "coded" at the dealer if neccessary... the coding may be something you need to have done.. I'm guessing it has something to do with pairing with the telaid..

After you install the puck you have to version code it in order to have the car know that you can make phone calls and to use the steering wheel buttons and to see your phone book and other phone related information in your cluster.

Nope. 04 was the last model with analog TeleAid which is used for the Puck with tail. This avoids the need for the telephone module.

MY05 CDI (211.026) depending on production date may be equipped with analog - PM VIN & email address and I will send info to assist in install.
