Hi
Its been told a lot of timet but nothing really specific....
Now i am using 0w 40 and I called 2 MB dealers in Chicago and they told me thay they are using mobil 1 5w-30 when changing an oil....so I bought MOBIL 1 5w-30 and now I am kind of affraid after I read that mobil1 5w-30 its not a FULL synthetic......on the bottle it said FULL, how it is in the real world? Can i change the oil now? Last time I put 0w-40 by myself but before that, I changed an oil at the dealership so they probably put 5w-30 anyways.....
Any good words?
thanks guys

Actually.. all 211s v6 and v8 take mobile 1 0w-40 European car full synthetic.. that's for gasoline engines. Not sure of the gap plug, diesel brothers tho

But sometimes dealers take into account.t where there located. I'm sure in a colder place(that's colder 3/4 of the year. They make u use a heavier weight. Is it that cold inchicago? Lol. Here in philly even new York.(ice had my oil changed at Benz dealers in both citys) and they used 0w-40 no questions asked. And I've called 3 dealers in ny and bout 4 in pa/nj

I just moved to Europe and waiting or my car to be delivered soon, before I left I bought an oil (MOBIL 1 5W-30) because obviously its cheaper, but now I am really sceptic about it...I dont want to make any damage to my engine...

As far as I can remember only 0w-40 Mobil1 meets MB 229.5 specs - Read on the back of 5w-30 bottle if that spec is there - I'm almost sure its not

I'm pretty sure the 5W-30 oil he is talking about meets 229.51 specs - suitable for MB Diesel engines, NOT gasoline engines. Seems to be a cost cutting measure at the dealers. Use only the 229.5 oil (FWIW, several brands have oil that meets the spec). 229.51 is not correct for the gasoline engines.
