Can anyone pull a VMI for me?
Minus the personal info, of course... If so, can you let me know, and I'll PM you the VIN?

Take the car to a Mercedes dealer, PAY for a pre-purchase inspection. THEN ask for a VMI.
You do understand that all a VMI reports is recalls and warranty work performed. They do NOT indicate whether regular maintenance was performed.

Unfortunately this particular car is 600 miles away, and not at a mercedes dealer. I'd like to get a vague idea if it's worth my trouble to fly down and check it out in person.

That's exactly the sort of information I'm looking for. I've read horror stories about clean carfaxes not showing wreck information, so I'm just looking for additional data sources..

When I explained the situation to an SA at a dealership, they were able to pull the VIN, and look at the history. Despite what other may say, they were able to tell me when the car had been serviced within the network of Mercedes-Benz dealerships in the USA. They did not go in to detail other than assuring me that the car had been cared for, and they saw no reason why warranty service would be refused. That was good enough for me.

I did one two years and ago and it still showed that information. However, note that some items can be ordered independently without a VIN or dealer involvement at all. Nothing should replace a good detailed inspection.
