Synchronizing the sliding sunroof (Clicking Sound)
Please can someone help. When i try opening sunroof the motor works but sunroof just makes clicking sound. If some one can please send instructions on how to get to a motor. My email is miberns@yahoo.com

1.) Remove the respective fuse from the main fuse box.
2.) Reinsert the fuse in the main fuse box.
3.) Switch on the ignition
4.) Move and hold the sunroof switch in the direction of the arrow until the sunroof fully close (forward) hold for 5 sec.
5.) Now open the sunroof as you would normally.
6.) The instructions are in the owner’s manual.

I've disconnected the battery, remove fuse 9 and re-installed same with no results....Just sounds like machine gun in all positions on the switch....

I had the same problem with my 2008 E350. The Pano sun roof opened but would not close without pulling it forward while pressing the button. It sounded like gears were grinding. GEARS ARE GRINDING. DON'T TRY TO ACTIVATE THE SUN ROOF IF YOU HEAR THIS NOISE.
OK, Maybe just one more time to get it closed.
I fixed it today. Here's how I did it.
I linked a YouTube video below that shows the Overhead Control Panel removal.

This is a great write up, but you cannot make the image larger showing the parts you bought at Home Depot.

Decided to open up the console and found nothing wrong with the existing bushings. I still haven't tried the fuse in the trunk, but is is the same #9 fuse in the R500?
Thanks,

I just went through all this and fixed it with 2 washers and my HF 10 ton press.
See the gear shaft with a hex in it? when I operated the pano sunroof the shaft would move in and out with the clicking and the roof would try to close.
I decided that shaft shouldn't move in and out with a worm driven gear so I took out the 3 smaller screws off and pulled that cover off. It immediately occurred to me that the cover was bent!! see the center where the shaft is at, it had been pushed out slightly. on the inside of the cover there is a small race that rides against the larger gear holding it parallel with the worm gear. I inspected it and found no cracks so I decided I have nothing to lose and went over to my 10 ton press and put the cover on a flat piece of hardwood and ever so carefully I got it bent back to flat. The race inside that supports the gear is very close to being level with the outer edges of the case. I put a little synthetic grease in and on top of that race, screwed it back on and Boom it works great, no noise the shaft doesn't move in and out it just works. I suspect the roof had never been lubricated and that is what bent the drive cover as the motor and gearbox struggle to close the roof.
Still do the repair above as this will stop the gears from separating / clicking if the cover isn't bent already because the cover attaches to the frame around the gearbox.
Sorry I didn't take any pictures because I was in a hurry to get the roof closed before it rained.
Hope this helps someone

Glad I could help, post if you have any questions and I'll try to help. Also get a tube of the Mercedes sunroof grease and apply it as soon as you get your Pano roof working

Ughh
hey I’m having this same issue with mine. One side is closing the other side is sticking up. Did you find a fix to yours?
Any help please email to slayersnick@yahoo.com also please.
I have the problem where when the panao roof goes to close, it sticks up about an inch on the passanger side, and about 3 or 4 inches on the drivers. Can't get the thing to close and it just goes click click click, but no movement. Looks like there is a little plastic thing that is not seating right on the track. I'm going to try and take the thing off tonight in the garage. As of now I have plastic bags shoved in there so it won't rain in my car. Lucky for me there is a tropical storm in our area right now
It's an 07 E350 sport. 70,000 miles on it. First time I have had a problem. Hopefully I can take photos and show how I fixed it, or how drunk I get and start punching it.
