Too anxious to wait on building my 2008 E350 please help w/ exterior mods!

Hey everyone, I hope this isn't an inappropriate post but I'm a muscle car nut www.hellrazorcustoms.com converting to my first MB. I know NOTHING about the cars but I want to absorb y'alls knowledge like a sponge. I've got access to paint and body, airbrush, plating, powdercoating, mechanical, pretty much anything but I want to start with exterior mods because I'm freshly divorced and well... I want to get tha chicks. I get my car next week and I've been looking through wheels @ http://www.wheelwarehouse.com and I also want to do a body kit on it to make it a bit more aggressive. If y'all have any recommendations on tires/wheels what will fit without rubbing, best traction best looks, best prices please please please let me know via here or email me @ hellrazorcustoms@hotmail.com. The car is a good looking car in my opinion, low miles, but I hate the rims on it. I'd like to do minimum rims, and a set of side spoilers to make it more sporty. Here are some pics as it sits now and any help to keep me from dropping $$$ on junk would be appreciated. Oh, I've got a couple pix in here of the interior but the interior is way cool with me. I just wanna concentrate on exterior now.

Oh and just as a guide, I'm all about deep lips on rims ;D The deeper the better in my book. I'd really like to get my airbrush guy to throw down on some sick skulls on the lip of some deep dished Forgiatto's, Asanti's, or Lexani's, or who knows what. I'm amazed at some of the wraps that they have now that we've been doing for years by scuffing down a paint job, shooting airbrush work and then re-clear it. I have a buddy that just wrapped his entire Lotus in flat black and it loois sick. I've been looking at side skirts too and they're just not very aggressive. I dunno it could just be but is there anyone out there that makes a wide body kit that makes this thing look like it can fly? It seems like there are only about five kits out there and ALL the retailers carry the same kit.

If you're a muscle car nut, get an E55 instead. The car will 'fly' without any airbrushing or body kits.

Welcome

Best thing you can do is to search the forums and read. All of your questions have most likely been answered. Start there. When you want details on something post in that thread that you just found.

Im gonna start reading every time I get the chance Amdeutsch. I'm hoping a get a few people who see the car and just "know" wheat it's supposed to have on it like I do with muscle cars. Thank you for the warm welcome

Thank you 97W202. I'm gonna do that. I wanna mix some Harley-Davidson, with some Chopper, with Some American Muscle car and add the latest technologies and make it unique. Like I said Ive got an AMAZING airbrush artist and I may do a faux carbon fiber lip on a set of rims (I couldn't ever afford the real thing) and I'd like to find a VERY AGGRESSIVE body kit for it. Nothing too ghetto but I mean something more hardcore sports car. I'm also gonna have to do a LOT of research to be able to build HP and torque. I can build torque monsters out of my LS motors but that 3.5L DOHC 24-valve V6 engine I don't know anything about really. I would imagine there are turbo systems and forced induction but I don't know if those motors will hold boost. I typically rebuild my motors with all forged internals to add boost just to be on the side of safety. I must say, I've ALWAYS liked the lines of these cars and I'm quite anxious to get started. I'll check some of your links 97 and see what I come up with. I notice all of the cars are a "W***" car like a W211 etc. Just out of curiousity what would my car be? I know, I know, I seem like a moron but you've gotta understand this is like a new language to me.

220, I'm getting a good price on the E class and I've already got a few cars that will fly. I'm finishing a 68 Coupe with LS6 and 420RWHP I'll probably do a 150shot of NOS on it, and then I start my 69 Convert RS with LS3 and Magnuson intercooled supercharger with Meth injection and I'll be looking at around low 700'sRWHP

Well Charlie, my primary vehicle for the past 4 years has been a 2500HD. So really I'm keeping my cars as I build them and until they sell. The E Class is to become my primary so I'm not gonna be supercharging it etc. cuz I need economy, driveability, and just plain comfort. So really I'm going from

to

I'll keep the cars as they come along Lately, my primary is actually "Sadie" the RS convertible ). My little girl LOVES rollin' the RS so we're good no matter what. I just want to have a sharp looking benzie and I know nothing about any of this. I know they're well built and have a STRONG resale value on them. That's the biggest reason I went this way. I've just been frustrated that I can't seem to find any really nice wide body kits for these cars. Wheels I'm not having that big a trouble with. The only trouble I'm having with wheels is which one's to purchase. (oh that's not my little girl with the car btw, it's Dayna DeLux http://daynadelux.com/ ) THIS is my little girl in the convertible

From what it sounds like, you could have some fun modding an E55. It still makes for a good daily, too. You can get into one for not much $$ these days. The V6 NA motor might be hard to work with (and if you do add FI or a SC for torque you've got to keep that 7GTronic tranny intact, too.) If you're going to sink some serious coin into it anyway, it would be fun to see what you could do with the 5.5 SC motor instead.

Just a thought. But if you have a good time with your E350, then maybe next time around.

p.s., check the AMG boards to see what people are doing lately. (there's a V12 Biturbo motor swap into an E Class going on there right now.)

I did see that biturbo V12 @ the dealership. It's SICK! You can run about 1200hp with the LSX motors and a biturbo set up but they'll literally self destruct if you don't put a girdle in them. The E is gonna be my first car, and I'm just gonna mess with it from an aesthetic stand point. I'll get into motors and suspensions and stuff if it looks like I can etch out a living doing it. Right now I'm sticking with body mods and wheels etc. That E350 is awfully peppy for a sedan but I guess if I were to get a sedan to rod I'd go with that CTS-V caddy and do a twin turbo on it for half the price of the AMG. I've got a CTSV in Snake Bit, the 68 I'm building and with just a cam and under drive pulley I'm getting 420RWHP. Twin turbo or blower with meth on top would make that thing INSANE!!!! If I can sell Snake Bit in this market I'll hit ya up and talk to you about an E55 next

Sorry for straying from MB on this post but I just wanted to show 220S what I do with my American made cars. They both definitely have their own sense of beauty and I consider it a blessing I've got the chance to get this E350. I'm so very excited about finding and installing the ground effects and working the rims up so it's unique. I hope you guys don't consider it sacriligious to airbrush rims and body panels like we do with some of our cars and bikes. I know a LOT of your are purist so hopefully you'll be able to appreciate where the E class goes in direction.
Keith

Vik I'm going in a VERY different direction than I've ever gone in. I've never built up a sedan much less a sports sedan and this time I'm going to be using materials I've never used like wraps and vinyls etc.. I'm hoping to have the car by next week early and the hardest part is finding a wide body kit. I've scoured the web and there's just plain NOT a widebody kit for an '08 E320 I must just be looking in the wrong place because I know there's gotta be one somwhere. I promise I'll keep y'all updated as to how it's going. I'm already on it with MHT for wheels as well as Wheel Warehouse and I'm also talking with a really nice guy who does wraps and vinyls and has some incredible artwork. I'd love to have Sergio airbrush it but I'd hate to put a bunch of skulls and stuff on a 35k sedan and people think I just ruined a 35k car.
