It's time for pads and rotors

I know there has been numerous posts on the subject but I don't think I've seen anyone with conclusive results.

Vehicle is an '05 E500 with about 75K on it and it's time to do the brakes. I don't have any performance complaints with the OE binders but I would like to reduce the dust.

So, which pads at least equal OE cold and hot performance while reducing dust, and without squeeling? Akebono's? Porterfield's? Actual part or model numbers would be super. How about rotors - which brand?

Thanks much,

Dan

I went with Akebono's and couldn't be happier. RockAuto had the best price at the time.

Talk to me gentlemen.

Akebono's - is there only ONE pad type from Akebono for the E500? Do they reduce dust, have no squeel, and perform cold or hot?

Inquiring minds and all that.....

I believe they are called Akebono Euros Ceramic. They barely give off dust, have no squeal (even though some people have had issues with them), and they perform cold or hot. You are always going to find somebody who has had a bad experience with a product. Personally I had bad luck with the Porterfields. That's why I switched to the bonos.
