Thumbs up Nav Pics: 2003 NY Auto Show...

Issanni posted a bunch of pics from the 2003 NY Auto show and among them were a few pics from a W211. 2 of them showing what seems to be the Nav System!

Seems to be a good sign to me.

Where is the map image? There is only a blue screen. There is no evidence of navigation here. Show us something convincing.

That is the E55 with the "Sirius Satellite" subscription. If I remember correctly.

First of all, I said "what seems to be" I never gauranteed that it was. The reason I posted it was because it was a totally different display, one that would seem to coincide with the Nav system.

Bit over critical aren't we?

I will be there tuesday, I will check/ask/photograph for the Nav lovers on this board. Maybe with some answers, people will start posting stuff about their ownership experiences with the new E so I can figure out whether I should but one!

If you have read any of the hundreds of posts on this forum about the navigation issue with MB, you would conclude the information blackout from MB leads its customers to welcome any ray of light. There is no criticism.

Sure, you say ' what seems to be', and display a picture of a screen with no indication of navigation....only that it looks different. There are no words in your post stating that someone of any level of authority hinted any report of navigation capability. There is no link to a place describing functionality of the screen. It appears you have leaped to a conclusion based on no evidence other than the screen is different. That is fine, and that is all I wanted to confirm.

My salesamn confirms me the Nav is product since April.
He talks me about retrofit in the end of 2003 for those who had command the system and received the car before april.

PS. Information foe europe. We don't have teleaid

Thank you. A key question is availability of the retrofit for E classes purchased prior to Jan 03. However, if the nav turns out to be in the E at the show, that is confirmation enough to begin dialog with dealerships to replace our cars if retrofit is impossible.

just got back from the show. all of the floor people at the MB booth were salesman from regional dealers, no MBUSA reps that I could find. Needless to say, they knew nothing about Nav, nothing about a possible E350 for 2004. The lone E55 was locked, but they were letting the crowd trash an SL500.

We will fight

You can take away our freedom, but you cannot take away our Nav (dammit), cuz it tells us where the hell to go, and in the absence of that we feel directionless and without guidance.

Gimme Nav or gimme death (dammit!).
