Only two years from keyless go batteries?
My 09 just told me I needed to replace the key fob batteries with only two years on them. My non-MB with a keyless fob has gone much longer. Any other experiences? We never use the fob buttons, but the drain must be big while it is in the car as these are lithium buttons.

Your KG keys are communicating with the car whenever you are near the car. 2 years is it. Regular keys only communicate with the car when you put them in the "slot" or press a button. 2 years is it, depending on battery freshness when inserted. They're cheap & come in a 2 and 3 pack at radio shack. Easy install too.

Cheap is relative, 2032s would be cheaper. I understand the kg has to talk to the car, so does my Corvette which has gone 3.5 years so far, on 2032s. Two years, so be it.

Mine lasted about 1.5 years. But no big deal. It's a minor expense and they are available cheap.
Try life with Porsche's infamous immobilizer. With batteries that are difficult to find and if they fail (and they do so unannounced), the entire car shuts down. Locks up solid, nothing works.
I keep extra batteries stashed everywhere.

Either i'm lucky as hell (which i dont) or it varies with usage. I'm still using the same fob and battery since i purchased the car new in 2003, funny i'm still on the original 2 batteries in the car (trunk and hood) all are 8 years old![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)

Without keyless - 8 years and still counting
With keyless - 2+, I turned car after 2 years, however no any sign of weakness of batteries. Actually it happened once, so I started car using spare fob and message disappeared for both keys.

I never heard of this. I have a 2001 911 and still have the original battery in my key.

FYI - Keyless Go vehicles communicate with the key on an ongoing basis (while driving). For example, if you leave the key out of the car (or remove the battery from the key) the car will recognize this in a short amount of time and warn you in the cluster that the key has not been found. This is to prevent you dropping off a passenger with them holding the key and getting stranded somewhere. Not sure how often it "polls" the key, but I am sure that is one reason the battery does not last as long.

Hey Guys,
Just purchased an 08 E350 4matic and I'm experiencing a weird problem.
When I go to open the Drivers door with the keyless-go fob in my pocket and pull on the handle, it doesn't open. BUT when I go to open any of the other 3 passenger doors or trunk, they open right away.
The drivers door opens fine when I press the unlock button on the fob though.
Do you think it a problem with the FOB, or some other issue?
Do you know if its a user customizable option that maybe was enabled\disabled by previous owner?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Newbie Tom

Like MB211 said- it is the handle. Should be covered under warranty if you have warranty left.
