'08 E350W4 CPO but, hi mileage

Considering a purchase, P2 with 57K miles CPO, one owner.
I'm wondering if there's anything I should be wary of given the mileage and how much the 2 extra years of CPO coverage should cost?

Timing belt, suspension, struts, anything I should negotiate being done before purchase?

Thanks

I think the 2 year CPO extension goes for around $1,500-$2,500 depending on what you negotiate. I recently paid somewhere in the middle of that and consider it a good investment. That's a LOT of miles. How much are they asking?

$35K asking, no negotiations yet. That's why I asked about extending CPO 2 yrs and any "maintenance" or wear items I should try to include.

I just bought one recently so can't advice you on maintenance but I think you should try to negotiate down to the low 30s -- Probably around 31 is I think fair but get the warranty! Be careful about running out of mileage before the warranty time period when deciding to extend CPO to 1 or 2 years.

Thanks, I'm really curious what to consider in wear items

Highway miles

This thing must have a lot of highway miles which, assuming the owner was staying close to speed limit, are the easiest kind of miles on the powertrain, but maybe not the paint and windshield (impact damage with road debris). Make sure the oil was changed at decent intervals...as well as any other required fluid changes. get the extended 2 year warranty (as low as $1200...that's what I paid in 2009).

If you yourself put on relatively few miles each year and want to keep the car a long time, this can be a real deal.

However, play with the gps. W211's had a REALLY CRAPPY lame-brained gps and that did not improve until very late in the model run when it was (finally) replaced with a HD-based unit instead of a DVD-based unit. That gps might well have been a deal killer for me when I was buying, but I assumed that everyone made an at least OK gps and that MB would not but a junk unit in their cars. They did.

I heartily agree about the worthless GPS. Had it in the '07 and remember once it said to "prepare to turn left" on a divided highway...Huhhhh?
Surprised MB didn't have lawsuits!

Huh?

They are asking $35K and want another $2K for 2 years warranty add-on?

I don't think so. Tell them you've been to the circus and you seen the elephant and you ain't no hayseed and to give you a call when they get serious. They want WAY too much and if they will not budge, walk. There will be better deals.

This thing should be low 30's with 2-year extened warranty, with miles like that. Remember, 2 years warranty costs them about $1200.

Also, look in Autotrader and do not be afraid to look at cars well out of your local area. I bought mine from a dealer 800+ miles away and would do it again in a hearbeat. Actually a fun adventure.

Just FYI I paid $1925 to extend my CPO warranty another 2 years. It seems I should have been able to come down to about $1750 or so but they were just not budging and given the fact that this is the only car I found in the color combination I was looking the last 8 months I didn't want to loose it. With the 350s you have so many to chose from. Don't pay more than $1,900!
