Question to Sport Pkg Owners.........
I'm interested in seeing if there's a pattern in which tires these cars have been coming in lately. Please indicate the month you took delivery and which tires you got . If Continental, please be sure to indicate if they are the Touring CH95 or the Sport Contact 2's.
I took delivery in December and mine came with the Touring CH95

Don't have the build date handy but the dealer had just gotten car in two days before I bought it - 12/31/02. 'H' rated Continentals installed, not the 'W' rated tires. I was OK with that since I drove home in the snow!

Switched to Michelin Pilot Sports A/S
Delivery end of February, 2003 (2nd Quarter January Production). Car came with Conti Sports Contact 2. 
Switched to Michelin Pilot Sports A/S 245/40ZR x 18 (front) and 275/35ZR x 18 (rear).

CH95s here/Took delivery 11/15
Incidentally, I saw that on the forum someone got their Contis swapped at 6000 miles. My car is almost at 9K miles, and I tried it this morning.
The Evil (TM) dealership said no. Imagine that!

Delivered Feb 2003... E500 Sport came with Continental SportContact 2's... so far a pretty respectable tire. The ride is actually pretty quiet on smooth pavement.

I got the Continental SportContact 2. They're okay. I'll probably swap 'em with Dunlops eventually. THey're a little noisy for my tastes.

mkassab: You can ask Luke from TireRack in the tire forum, but I would say that the Pilot A/S are your best bet in terms of compromises (great performance and not bad on ride or noise). And remember that the Pilots are all season, while the others are performance "summer tires".

My new E500 Sport should arrive within two weeks. I hope the car comes equiped with Michelin tires and not Continental. I'm just not that familar with the Continental tires. Are they just as good as Michelin or are they a lower cost/quality tire?

I got the Conti and was real concerned about road noise and ride before my car arrived. However, when it got here I was very pleasantly suprised. They are very quiet, and smooth riding. I'm very happy with them and since they are cheaper than others when I replace I'll probably go with them again.

Came with Conti's CH95 (H rated I think). I didn't order the sport package. Though I may try to get the Pilots on my next one (not the Primacy though).
