New to MB E320 CDI, problems after new Parts
Hello all. I purchased my first MB one month ago. An 06 E320 CDI. Love this car and the milage. After new tires last week I noticed a 70MPH vibration that was random regardless the speed or road conditions. I discovered the right front lower control arm ball joint was very loose. I removed the the entire spindle assembly and replaced the joint with OE. While I was there, I replaced the pads and rotors.The vibration is gone but now the center info screen in the speedometer ask me to have the car serviced for ABS and ESP. Aside from that, the engine power is less, the power stering feels heavy, and I lost cruse control. I searched this forum and from that I checked the right side brake pad wear sensor, only has a sensor on the right side. Ohm meter shows the sensor is still closed, in contact. I feel as though it's the right side speed/abs wheel sensor. Looking at the sensor, I must have been a little careless as the wire casing going in the sensor is split. Replaceing it looks easy, but how do I reset the cars computor? Do I need to reset? I unhooked the battery during the brake job replacement but not the ball joint replacement. Can I use non-OE Speed sensors. Please advise.

Congrats on the car purchase. I bought mine just about a year ago with 32000 miles and now have 72000. I would recommend purchasing the service DVD if you, like me, prefer to do some of the repairs ourselves. In the interim, you could purchase a 1 year subscript to alldatadiy.com. Its pretty good, and in fact, some of the illustrations come from the service manual. I would only purchase OEM sensors. The computer should reset once the fault is fixed. Good luck.

Took it to the dealer. According to the service advisor "this happens alot to shops doing breaks". Itll cost $100 to have this go away. While it's there they are going to flush and fill the trans and put in a new filter for $200. Not to bad.

I slight trans fluid leak around an electrical connector on the trans was $150 to repair. Dropping the trans pan and doing a flush and fill with new filter is $250. My first trip to the dealer after owning this car for one month is going to be just shy of $1000. I'm a life long ford driver and have never had to take a vehicle to the dealer. I hope me first MB experience goes well from here.

As long as the dealer gave it a good once-over, you should be fine. They would probably approach you offering repairs if they could find anything that needs attention.
How many miles do you have? I would recommend you getting a VMI from your dealer (a vehicle warranty-work history) and look it over to see what work has been done in the past. The EGR valve is a common replacement part on this car, if it has not already been done. It will trip the Check Engine light and cause power loss.
The mileage is excellent on these car as well as the acceleration. I have really enjoyed mine.

The car has 70,000 miles and looks good to go for along time. When comparing it to my fords, we have a v10 excursion with 100,000 miles an 04 mustang GT wit 14000 miles and a fusion with 58,000 miles. None of these have ever seen a repair shop, only common wear parts replaced by myself. I'm sure the MB we serve us well.

Update. The car is Running great. Roughly 600 miles from a full tank until the low fuel lights up. The new brigestone serenitys are breaking in nicely. I replaced the brakes with centric pads and store brand rotors and lower control arm joints with mb parts. I will get the mb service cd as suggested.

The best I have achieved is 860mi/tank. That was on a business trip to and from with limited city driving included. Incredible mileage for the comfort and safety they provide.
