Steering Wheel Vibrates When Braking at Low Speed

Hello all,
I am recently experiencing steering wheel vibrating at the low speed braking. I have searched the forum but could not find any similar symptoms. I have replaced front rotors and pads about a year ago. I also replaced the famous lower balljoints about 6 months ago and put 4 brand new tires and alignment about 4 months ago. The latest was the front thrust arms replaced about 2 months ago. Now I noticed the slight vibration at the steering wheel when I apply the brake.
I am wonder anyone here have similar problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

It sounds like your rotors are uneven or warped, but they are relatively new
Not sure if you replaced them earlier with an OEM product or a cheaper alternative that has failed on you. The rotors would be the first thing I would look at.

Even if you place new rotors, sometimes they warp when they are stored flat. With a new rotor, I normally have it turned to remove any storage warping.

I got the OEM spec Zimmermans rotors and the Porterfield R4-S pads.

They were fine after I replaced about a year ago tho. Shouldn't the vibration occurs right away if they where warped of the shelf?

Sounds like they have warped from use. Any drivers of this vehicle ride the brakes?

You never know...

I have done hundreds of brake jobs over the years, on various makes and model cars. Most likely you do have a slight imperfection (warp) in your surface, but typically the tell tale sign is if it gets worse at higher speeds. If the vibration is not worse, then it doesn't make any sense to mess with your rotors.

To eliminate this for sure, take your rotors off and have them turned. If the problem still exists, make sure your wheels are torque on properly (Unlikely, but that can cause weird problems) and that your tires don't have any tread separation. Tread separation can can weird feelings in the steering wheel at low speeds.

Good luck with this one. Let us know what finally fixes it.

I went out to the car one day and checked the all the wheel lugs. It turns out that they weren't as tight. I ended up apply a quarter-turn to all of them. The vibration is gone and I think it is good now.
Thank you all

Thumbs up Sweet!

Well, there was a chance that was the problem, and sure enough, it was. Glad it solved your issue!

One thing, you really should check to be sure they are all torqued correctly, so as they are not overtightened. Just drive by a tire place and see if they will check them all for you. They usually do this for free.
