Interior Lighting
I just went to drive a new E-Class (E320) this weekend (although I had driven both the E320 and E500 last summer at an E-motion event, I never got a brochure). When looking through the brochure, I read about the interior lighting that comes on when it is dark. Can anyone comment on this, like, dislike, how bright is it, which lights come on, etc?
Thanks

It's of value--there are halos around both the front and rear roof dome lights, and when you use the headlights they create a glow that provides ambient lighting for the interior. There's also one in the base of the mirror that bathes the console. Adjustment of the front halo is via the steering wheel buttons on the Settings menu (1 thru 5 brightness, 3 default is my preference), the rear is adjusted via a switch on the dome light (I have that somewhat brighter but nobody ever sits back there).

the only thing i don't like is that the rear reading lamps are blinding..it shines on your lap and in your face. it should be a spot light....i'm sure this will be changing in the new e's.

04' E500 w/Appear. PKG, Panorama Roof
Very Classy-upscale- I love it. Kids do too. They don't actually need a light on, yet not be in total dark. Causes a "WOW" when new passangers see it along with the Pano Roof

OMG, I had only test driven the E-Class during the day, and the first time I drove the car at night was after I bought it! I was just AMAZED at how beautiful the dials and lighting are--particularly with the pano roof--at night!!! I wish I had bought the illuminated door sills in blue to go with the night lighting (but who thinks about interior lighting when it's usually so hohummm!). FABULOUS!!!
