Comand - W211-589-16-22-00 SW upgrade TOOL IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE
I called my dealer, they told me that "W211-589-16-22-00 TOOL" has been discontinued.
I put an order through Parts.com and got "W211-589-16-22-00 TOOL is no longer available"
It doesn't look like it is any where to be found or downloaded ...
Any idea where can I buy it, or if there any newer Tool\part # that replaced it?

W211-589-14-22-00: enables DVD MP3, Navigation ETA and some SW updates
W211-589-16-22-00: is mainly for improving performance and some bug fix, at least for MY2004, it may add more SAT radio functions for newer models
Again that is based on what was posted by others and my own understanding

samo1, I can't claim that I'm the expert here but according to my own "limited" understanding:

I have no idea...it's all new to me. Just tried it out and it worked. I know it was updated with some software update some time ago, but don't know which version it supposedly was.

Only a few of the COMANDS in North America have DVD drives in them. The rest are just regular CD drives, so no guarantee that you'll be able to play a DVD of MP3s in a North American COMAND.
And remember people, the "V" in DVD stands for Versatile, not Video.

The DVD FAQ is written by Jim Taylor, the author of DVD Demystified, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About DVD, and Blu-ray Disc Demystified.
[1.1.1] What do the letters DVD stand for?
All of the following have been proposed as the words behind the letters DVD.
Delayed, very delayed (referring to the many late releases of DVD formats)
Diversified, very diversified (referring to the proliferation of recordable formats and other spinoffs)
Digital venereal disease (referring to piracy and copying of DVDs)
Dead, very dead (from naysayers who predicted DVD would never take off)
Digital video disc (the original meaning proposed by some of DVD's creators)
Digital versatile disc (a meaning later proposed by some of DVD's creators)
Nothing
And the official answer is... "nothing." The original initialism came from "digital video disc." Some members of the DVD Forum (see 6.1) tried to express how DVD goes far beyond video by retrofitting the painfully contorted phrase "digital versatile disc," but this has never been officially accepted by the DVD Forum as a whole. A report from DVD Forum Steering Committee in 1999 decreed that DVD, as an international standard, is simply three letters. Nevertheless, Toshiba —the maintainer of the DVD Forum Web site— still confusingly prefers "digital video disc." And after all, how many people ask what VHS stands for? (Guess what? No one agrees on that one either.)

Hi guys
I Know most have moved away from this topic, but I can really use your help. Recently updated my 03 E500 from the old head unit with single Cd and Tape (yes Tape) to a Command APS NG1. Not considering the navigation stuff, which is on the way I want to update the firmware. Need the disk 211-589-13-22-00 and possibly 211-589-14-22-00. Dealer could not help me and I tried downloading the euro version but the system on the car did not recognize it.
Getting really frustrated and any help would be appreciates.

The part # for the Nav Processor update (in the trunk) is 211 589 15 22 00
