Aux battery R&R
I read several posts that mentioned using an after-market replacement from Auto-Zone, O'Reilly's etc, . . .
I checked with an MB dealer in Dallas (that usually comes up with a good discount) and was quoted $139.00, which is less that OEM retail ($199.00), . .then went to a local wholesale battery company & got a Yasuka (not sure on the spelling) premium 12ah AMG exact replacement for $59.00.
I use the same battery in my Beemer (motorcycle) and get at least 5 to 6 year out of them.
Anyhow, . . .when I changed it out, . . .I connected jumper wires from the vehicle battery cables to the new battery, which I sat on top of the engine intake cover. Then, I dis-connected the old battery, removed it, and placed the new battery into the battery box, being careful to maintain the jumper wire connections.
By using the jumper wires, I never lost 12V going into the vehicle system and didn't need to re-program any of the pre-set's.
This worked like a charm & probably saved another 30 minutes of re-do. In all, . . .no more than a 20 minute job.
