First I got the "error establishing audio connection" or something like that in the radio. No radio function at all. Teleaid Defective msg in the center display. Going in for service Friday AM but wanted some input from anyone else that had this problem. Thanks in advance!

Happened to me right after last visit to service, I pressed the sos button and it worked, the guy at the other end reset the system and all was well after I restarted the car.

TeleAide Defective message
I have had the SOS/Teleaide malfunction message appear a few times. Carefully restarting the car seems to have eliminated it each time. (Sort of like re-booting your Windows operating system.) I have had no lingering malfunction in the system. Others have had more serious results. A search on this forum will lead to to the travails of these folks and their entire experience down the "SOS/Teleaide Malfunction" path.

RJC and Legacy - Thanks for the info. We'll see what they say at the dealer. I don't subscribe to Teleaid so pressing the SOS button just gives me the recording stating I'm not registered. Hopefully it's a simple fix since this is the only thing I've had go wrong in 7700 miles.
We'll see.....

I had another SOS/Teleaid malfunction indication yesterday as I started my car. I restarted the engine and it disappeared. I am hoping that when I get my replacement car, this malfunction indication will no longer appear, except when it is actually needed.

Bruce,
I've had the same Teleaid error message also after purchasing my car. I brought it to the dealer and they fixed it. They had to order something (software update?) to fix it so I had to leave my car at the dealership overnight.
Make sure they fix the audio connection error at the same time (I received that error message also)...
Haven't had any issues since.
Good luck!

Thanks for the info. It turned out to be the Audio Gateway module/controller. Fixed everything. Had them check the car for any other software updates and confirmed that the 2003 E class cannot scroll presets!! Oh, well it was worth a try. Heard a nice black E55 rumble through the service area. Nice exhaust note!

I had the "Teleaid Error" message several times in the past. It always went away when I next started the car.
It has been on now for about a week. Not worried about it and not going to make a special trip in just to have it corrected. It may just have to wait until I get my replacement.

If it was only the Tele-aid Defective message I would have let it slide but it took out the radio as well. Can't live without tunes!!

Teleaid Defective msg
I picked up my E-Class two weeks ago and I have been so busy enjoying the car that I forgot to engage the Tele-aid. I signed-up for it when I took delivery. When I hit the I-button nothing happens. I called the 800 number and I was told the unit maybe defective, everything else on the car works great! Could I be doing something wrong?

I believe you press the SOS button the first time to activate the service, although my dealer did this at delivery. I don't know if it makes any difference in the activation if you try the i or wrench buttons before the service is activated. If that first call has been made during which they verify all info with you verbally, then the i and wrench should work whenever it can get cell service.

Maybe this will help..........I also have the SOS malfuction. When I went to clear it up the guy on the other end could not tell where I was..........as I drove down the street with him still on the line he was able to pick my location up and reset the device.
Seems there are areas with no signal . I notice even my cel phone sometimes has a NO SERVICE in front of my home.
I guess all the techno this and techno that is fine 90% of the time.Lets hope if any of us need it then it works as planned in Germany. I wonder sometimes if Heinrich and Wolfgang ever get out of the office in Stuttgart and into the real world of America to test all of this stuff.............My guess is not...........
