What happened to my FSS? - MY2004 E320

My owner's manual gives instructions on how to bring up FSS. But following the instructions, I still can't find it. I've owned the car about two months.

Could an update to the software on my 2004 e320 (built Aug 03) have removed FSS at some point?

On the other hand.......

I admit that I find every aspect of selecting things with the menu system on my e320 to be counter-intuitive. I usually stumble on features at random or else by sneaking up on them. You have to pretend to be looking the other way so they think you're not actually trying to find them. I have come to think it's actually illegal to simply enable any features in this car through the menu. You need to suffer first and when you give up, some random set of button pushes deliver a result.

Help. As you can see, this is effecting my sanity.

Evidently you didn't read Konigstiger's Sticky https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...s-211-usa.html, which is right at the very top of this forum.

The instructions are also in your manual, but the manual follows the counter-intuitive selection system used in your menu system: they're on Page 301 at the end of the Maintenance section, not at the beginning.

If you haven't done it, I would suggest that you download the manual from http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/servic...owners_manuals. It's easier to stumble across things when you can search for them on your computer.

I had read the posting before....

and the manual.

The item is simply (apparently) invisible and does not appear as an option when I follow the instructions. That's why I asked. I am not one to post questions I haven't searched for an answer to.

My main question is, whether or not a software update could have removed FSS entirely. If not, I will keep trying the menu system.

I found my FSS....

The instructions kindly posted by Konigster said to start at the Temperature display. I have re-read my manual and discovered that this display can optionally be set to show Temp or Speed. It is set on my car to show Speed.

So for my 2003/04 car, if I start at the "speed" display and then press the reset button for 5 seconds or so, into the allusive FSS I go. That is not quite the same as saying I have achieved my FSS ojectives, but at least I can now get in.
