But only if he has a COMAND unit, and I'm guessing from the age of his vehicle (very early run 211) that he has either Audio 20 or 50, unless he's retrofitted a COMAND unit and added the aux cable.

For all those guys without aux inputs and are stuck with a freaking walkman from the 80s...what do you guys do? I just got my E500 back and now miss the aux input I had in my Honda Civic. Too bad I sold it and the stereo.

What did I do? I replaced my Audio 50 unit with a COMAND unit and then added the AUX cable to the COMAND unit.

What kind of NAV interface do you have? COMAND or Audio 50 APS? I'm guessing COMAND by virtue of the car having the NAV unit in the back of the car...

I have the Audio 50 head unit which means I don't have the aux in the glove box. I can feel and see where it should be, but it's just not there. Instead of the hole for the plug, it's just smooth fabric. I know I have the Audio 50 because I do not have navigation in my car. I have a stupid cassette deck.
If you look in the glovebox and do not see anything then you're out of luck like me. But also, I assume the guys that have aux see the button on their units as well.

Audio 50 APS is a navigation version of Audio 50 (which has a cassette unit), but if I recall, the Navi disc for APS is contained within the head unit, whereas the COMAND head unit has the Navi disc drive in the back of the car, like the picture you sent.
I think you have COMAND, and if you don't have the aux cable installed in your car, it can be retrofitted.
