yea, it was wierd looking at that pic, another thing wierd about the tires is that if you turn your front wheel to the left or right, then look at the undercarriage of one the the front tires, its about 1 inch from hitting the plastic...why so close?

By the looks of this picture, the car is an elegance model and it has the 16" wheels. I doubt it has Airmatic and it does not have the sport suspension. Hence the extreme body roll. They were pushing it really hard and its meant to be a soft ride unlike the avantgarde/sport models which have a harsher suspension for a sportier drive.

thats right muhri, its an E320 and the E320 doesnt have airmatic and neither does it have the sports supension coz its an elegance! but the bmw comes with active steering thing and the dynamic drive thing.....so maybe they should have used an avantgarde car with airmatic to test it properly......but then the cost of the merc would go up :P

It is not elegance, even worse

If you look at the last page of the test you will notice that it's E320 classic, - cheap e-class usually available for taxi services .

Several mistakes

Several things that were mentioned are not true. I have the magazine at home and the car tested was in fact the Elegance version(you can tell in the pictures because of the chrome and leather, which is not available with Classic, only MB-tex is.) The Classic version is only mentioned to compare cheapest possible prices. Also, in Germany, you can get a sport suspension with Elegance, just like you can get the Avantgarde (Sport in US) version retrofitted with the normal suspension. You can also order Airmatic on the E320, just like in the states.

You can even retrofit the sport suspension on a classic but I'm sure this car did not have airmatic nor sport suspension. Look at that body roll.

Not true.
Leather IS available with Classic version, as an option of course.

No.
Look carefully at mercedes-benz.de / pkw/ konfigurator/e320
classic

There is a choice between stoff/leder/leder twin.
Once again, leather is available for classic line.

Sorry!

I didn't know they offered real leather for Classic! On the old E-class and current C-class they don't so I figured it was the same for the current E-class. Once again, sorry!
