Warranty coverage beyond 7 years 100K miles

My CPO warranty runs out at the end of next year for my 2007 E550 and I was wondering of any warranty options. I only still have about 40K miles and by then maybe I will have 50K or 55K miles though the car will be 7 years old. So though the mileage is low I would exceed the time provision of the CPO warranty.

Are there any warranty options for me that will be similar to CPO coverage that includes Airmatic, and the car's electronic and emission components?

The cost of the warranty for you now IMO will way exceed your repair cost. I think I found $4000 for 30,000 miles of coverage with limited items covered.

I guess if I plan to keep the car, I should set aside $2-4K for repairs in the two years after the warranty runs out in 2013...

I guess the major thing that could go bad is Airmatic but if I have transmission trouble or gas tank issues I'd be screwed...

Try contacting extendedwarrantypro.com and talk to Leslie about the Chrysler Max Care Warranty, which could still be issued for an E-class M-Bz last time I checked. I have this ext warranty for my SL and it's superb, but it's no longer offered.

I put in my annual home budget $3000 / yr to maintain the E500. I spend it every year. Think what the $3000 / yr after 5 yrs cost . Next time I won't be driving the star.

Another $2K more and you can be leasing a brand new E If you add your cost of depreciation, I think you are pretty my paying out of pocket the cost of leasing a brand new E. This is what is wrong with these cars. After 7-8 years the cars are essential worthless as the cost of depreciation + repairs is the same as leasing a new E

Currently the wife still doesn't want to sell the E .. Remember she doesn't have to do any maintenance, just drive. I did however let her cover the $650 starter replacement and she didn't like that any. When she gets tired of paying the repairs out of the monthly budget she will ask for a new car. It won't be MB.

Meanwhile,, I am airplane shopping.

What will it be?

May I suggest you combine your driving and plane shopping:

What would happen if you pull up in one in your driveway and tell your wife you just bought it to replace the E?

Cheapest part of owning an plane is buying it, take it from a Cessnan. What are you looking at?
