W211 face, coupe body

W211 face, coupe body

Did the W211 E-Class also get a coupe version? I don't seem to see that version anywhere as I recall.

The CLS was sort of a reskinned E Class made to look like a coupe, but no true 2 door coupe.

You may be looking for the CLK. I had a CLK 500 before the E 500, and they share the motor and the front end, although I don't believe the CLK has airmatic suspension.

Yea, that generation of the CLK really got it all wrong. They took the worst sides of two cars and made one. The front of that generation's C-class, which didn't fit in with any other model, and the completely nonathletic look of the W211 rear. In reality, it should have been just like the W208, which looked just like a two door W210. Of course, the new E-Class coupe gets it right, but is sort of a lie because it's actually a C-Class rebranded. Anyone else confused yet?

that's cuz it is. the interior controls and layout was all C class. pretty sure it was even built on a C class platform. the c55 even had to use a CLK front end to hold the bigger engine

even the current E coupe is built more on a C than an E platform.

The W208 was really sweet. The CLK should've never existed in the first place, the E coupe should have been kept over from the W124. Even the CL should've stayed an S coupe (which it will be reverting back to with the new S class model).

The CLK was fully based on the C Class, with some E styling cues to try and make it look more expensive. The new "E Coupe" went further with this marketing schtick by actually badging it an "E Class", while just like the CLK, it's fully based off of the C Class, while using as many E styling elements as it can to justify the price tag (also most of the E tech and the E drivetrain options).
