Available Aftermarket Pads/Rotors

It's time for me to get some new stopping gear for the ride.

As far as pads are concerned, it seems that the general consensus is that Akebono pads are the way to go. What about EBC, Hawk, StopTech, etc.?

As far as rotors are cocnerned, I think I'm going to be going with R1, as I had them on my BMW and had no issues with it.

Can anyone shed some light on other comparable rotor/pad combos?

Thanks!

I can't really shed light on aftermarket pads/rotors but I can tell you my dealer wants to charge me $600 for the replacement of the front two - I thought that was extraordinarily high but others on the thread confirmed that seemed about right...

...so as if I cannot be any less helpful how much do these run for? I might pick up a pair. Thanks.

Price of fronts are $57.67. Definitely a lot cheaper than getting OEM's installed at a dealer, less brake dust too.

They should all be around the same price. Spread between different brands shouldn't be too significant.

Thank you. The brake dust is killer on these OEM pads so glad that can be remedied somewhat with OEM parts. I really really want to get some AMGs/Brembos but it's incredibly expensive.

I think DCTMotorsports (vendor here) sells AMG BBK's. I'll probably invest in a set to stop all 268HP my W211 has to offer lol.

I use Jurid pads and OEM rotora. My front rotors were replaced at 123,000 miles and they were the origional I bought the car new.

I have an e550 4 matic. I went to full Powerstop Drilled/slotted rotors all around and full ceramic pads. Spent just under $500 for everything and did the work in my driveway myself. Phenomenal upgrade, no dust, awesome performance. Bought the powerstop kit from JC Whitney for the fronts and went to Buybrakes.com for the rear. There was no kit, but they built one for me.

Woah Woah Woah, under $500? I'm looking at their site right now and I really like what I see, my dealer quoted me $600 for the front two only and not full ceramic and slotted/drilled. I love the look of drilled and slotted rotors so I'm definitely going that route. However on Buybrakes.com I don't see an option for an E550 4Matic...

Yeah the front kit for my 2007 E550 4matic was right around $290 (with drilled/slotted rotors, full ceramic pads and sensors) and the rear was around $210 for the same setup as above. What a difference!

Put EBC Red Stuff pads on all fours, along with new EBC Rotors (just the regular high carbon non-slotted/drilled rotors) recently. Bled with ATE Super blue. Got it all from "Placeforbreaks.com"
Much less brake dust these days - and enhanced stopping confidence.

Only minor downside was squealing and noise the first 500 miles as the pads bedded in.

I just did all four rotors and pads and it was just under 350 shipped from rock auto. I went with the centric premium rotors and stoptech ceramic pads. Dust is alot less, not completely eliminated , but the brakes work and feel the same as stock. I already did the R-1 concepts on my wifes Volvo and the only reason i didnt go that route on the benz is because i was told R-1 uses the cheapest centric rotors which are about 30 bucks each. So your paying all that extra money for holes that dont do di*k. Basically....i bought the premium rotors that R1 offers at a price they couldnt touch. Had i known this before then i wouldnt have bought the R1s for the Volvo. Meh... We live and learn. Good luck!

think i'll be going with EBC redstuff or Hawk ceramic paired with either R1 C/D rotors or Adams rotors.

Does anyone know if E55/63 spec'd rotors will fit on our non-amg 211's with an extended bracket without having to get the whole assembly? By the looks of it, it looks like we would be able to fit slightly larger rotors in the back..
