300,000 Miles

This weekend, my 2003 E320 went over 300,000 miles. Although I love this car and it is by far the best car I have ever owned, I have a 2013 E350 on order. This car will be used by my son until we either repair or replace his 1987 300ZX, so for the time being the car will stay in the family.

10,000 more miles before I qualify for another high-mileage award.

Heartwarming !

My 2003-built E320 4Matic is approaching 130K miles in PA. I'm the 3rd owner. These cars can drive you nuts or be a blessing. Looks like you may have the latter kind. (I think the E320 is slightly easier on the wallet than an E500 at higher miles. The plain suspension has its benefits.)

Nothing unexpected. The usual number of mileage related issues such as motor mounts, ball joints, catalytic converter (one), etc, but I am still using the same exhaust. The biggest surprise to me is that the interior (seats, carpeting, etc.) all look good. No rips, tears and even wear marks.

All in all, the car has treated me very well. It is expensive to maintain, but that was expected. With this car, I've doubled the mileage I've put on any other car and am quite happy about it.

The secret, as far as I'm concerned is to continue with the scheduled maintenance even after the warranty period has expired. That, and fix things when they break, instead of living with them.

Wow congrats 192k mi here I don't know if will reach 300,000 mi on this engine the previous owner was a family member and got into some financial trouble so I took ownership and it had a tap from her using the wrong oil and running it low constantly . Tear down was about 3000 to find out what it was I would rather find a used engine in the event this one goes but it's been good so far!!

I know I hope that I can keep my E550 (my first car) until old age, and have the money/space to do so. I love this thing to death and it will always be my baby.

P.S. this is my 500th post. I am now a super member. Bow down before me newbies and john stossel.

Nice job on your mileage. I turned in my 1995 E300 last year with 345,000 on it (I was original owner). Have you ever done the math to how many hours you've sat in the drivers seat? It's mind-blowing...

Yeah transmission service is expensive, did you ever have any repairs on it or just regular service?

I have a 154000miles and I never had the transmission service...but I'm thinking about changing it... just ball joints left strut engine mounts and control arms....and standard oil changes coolant change spark plugs

I have not had any significant transmission work done. I did have a transmission module replaced when it started leaking fluid.

I have had other repairs made as things have broken, but nothing I would consider extreme for a car with this much mileage. Ball joints, motor mounts, a catalytic convertor, EGR valves, batteries and etc. But no engine work or internal transmission work. Nothing that has made me question the dependability of the car. It has always started and has never left me stranded (knock on wood).

My 03 just hit 99,000, and its been a great car too so far, it will go another 5 years easily. just did my second tranny and filter change and spark plugs. it burns zero oil and get's great gas mileage too. I just follow the MB scheduled maintance routine....

Thanks for the response, and I hope to keep my car (well forever if I can afford it) until that mileage since I truly enjoy driving, yes I put a lot of miles on my car compared to someone like my dad but in my opinion nothing compares to driving a fine car with heaps of horsepower. Kind of helps me deal with stress and school as every day I can put my foot down and relax
