2003 E500 rear vibration

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and glad to join this forum. I have problem with my car. There is some kind of vibration at rear end of the car (maybe axels or rims) that every time when I press gas pedal and driving slowly around 50-60 km/h shake little bit and after disappeared. Its not all the time just acceleration and.

Many thanks!

have drive shaft checked on a lift. Front and rear Flex joints and center carrier bearing. These are not expensive parts and repair can be made by good indie shop.

When the last time you rotated the tires?

Try rotating your tires as well to see if the vibration goes away.

I had similar vibration at the front at low speed when accelerating/braking for months. I recently rotated the tires and the vibration went away.

If your tires have cupped out you will have noise and vibration. I found that using Michelin's I had none of these issues. What brand of tires are you using?

I doubt that this kind of vibration is coming from the suspension or the tires. Sometimes vibration can occur if your tires are not balanced properly but I don't think it will disappear by itself.
Anyway, I would advise you to do a few things. First check the flex discs of the driveshaft for any cracks. They are made from a very strong rubber so they are pretty flexible but with time they tend to crack and cause vibrations like that.
Also check your differential. First check the seals where the halfshafts connect to the differential. They tend to go bad and fluid starts dripping out. Then check your differential fluid. Btw, my technician told me that it is a good idea to change your diff fluid when you change oil. It will cost you around 20 bucks extra but it extends the life of the diff.
And just in case, drive to a tire shop and check your rear tires' balance.

Before the rotation, I had Goodyear Eagle's in the front, and Rikon Raptors' in the back. I haven't rotated in almost two years, or about 13,000 km. Goodyear have about 65% treadwear left, and Raptors have about 85%. Wish I have rotated the tires sooner. I noticed my new front rotors (1 year old), now have "circular scratches" on them, possibly due to vibration/mechanically buzzing feels.

I didn't inspect the tires when I bought it at the reputable dealership. This is my first car I purchased and I have learned a lot being a first-time owner.

You probably don't have a car problem, my guess is you have a tire problem. Look at the tires to see if they have "made in Japan" on the sidewall. If so switch to Michelins and you will probably solve your problem.

Hi guys.....sorry to be late on my response at least I have news.

It was transmission problem.
This is from invoice:

RE+RE TRANS ASSY-REVERSE FLUSH COOLER. REPLACE TRANS ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR

Transmission electrical connectors (leaky ones)
Electrical connector shell (with 2 O-Rings)
Part number: 68021352AA
Plug 21-003-015

They said the water was inside of electrical connector and got something with torque convertor.

I have warranty on this.

How did that cause the vibration? I would never have guessed.

No idea....but that vibration in the begining wasnt to bad, but by time get worst and worst. When I was driving and get speed car start vibrating like something is wrong at the back. I repair it at Mercedes dealership. Now drive like a rocket.
