One big drawback to the LCD unit, is that in direct sunlight, the screen gets drained and you can't see much. This does not happen with analog stock unit.
To clear this theory up, I'm looking to acquire a 2009 e350 unit of the same look, but with the same part number as Kushp14's "2118303290". If it works plug and play like it did for him I would conclude that the facelift 2 zone unit from MY07&08 would work on e320s MY03-05 while the facelift 2 zone unit from MY09 would work on e350s MY06.

Crafty, do you recall if the part # on your unit matched the one I current have? Or is it a different part # than 2118302490?

Unfortunately not yet, but I'm having a local shop see of they can do some retrofit coding. In the meantime I'm sitting on my thumb.

Goodluck mate! Hope you get it sorted out! The one i bought on ebay was really cheap coz it has a scratch on the plastic screen. Theres another item im lookin at which is more acceptable but im afraid i might run into the same problem as you did. So for now ill probably settle with this. All buttons are functional, thats all i need.

Hello,
I want to replace my old panel for climate control with dual zone with part number 2118303190. Put new, take out the old, but the air conditioner even in the off position remains activated. Is there anything that should be coded with the diagnostic equipment or retrofit is impossible

Your situation is exactly opposite of what I experienced when I tried this swap. My ac light nor compressor would ever turn on. All it would do is blink 3 times and remain off. I thought getting a different part number that Kushp14 tried in his similar year E350 would work. Unfortunately it did the same thing as my first part and failed to activate the AC. One theory I have as to why my two parts did not work is that they were removed from donor vehicles AFTER the ac controller recorded a fault in the AC system. Perhaps they were both from cars with frontal damage that impacted the AC system. Because of this, the fault stays with the AC controller until it is remove/reset electronically. I believe this can only be done with a Mercedes compatible computer. This could explain why some members have had success and others like myself did not. It's also not the ONLY reason for incompatibility issues. I can confirm my first unit did not work in a second E350 either, so as I said before, the fault stays with the unit. Additionally, before removing my original AC controller I had the car running and AC turned on. I could hear the compressor running during this times. When I disconnected it the compressor continued to run until I plugged in the replacement AC controller. Once I did that the AC compressor and the cabin fans immediately turned off completely. Good luck with your experimentation.

Version code it and delete the (possible) faults from the donor car, 12 faults or so will return since you don't have the 4-zone flaps, actuators, 4-zone sun sensor, and air quality sensor in your car with 2-zone A/C. If you want to do a proper job, take your dash out and replace the entire A/C box. It's definitely worth the work.

That task looks a little beyond my scope I'm afraid. 12 DTC will be permanently set using this unit, eh? Looks like I need to track down one that's not a quad zone unit.

I know that video. He takes more off than necessary like the center console.

You can can buy a face lift unit with display. There are diffiferent versions. Some will work in your car some won't. You would have to try different ones, too.

On my 2008 I replaced the climatronic from the one where REST did not work, to 4-zone where I can read sensor values.
Deep scan will show the message that unit is not paired, but don't have any errors showing

Hello to you. I have a problem, I changed the climate control panel to the higher one in the picture from a friend, the problem with the button I have solved, air conditioning and the AC button work properly (SD coding) but could anyone send a schematic and a description of the pins of the climate panel plugs? I have a problem because after the ignition how colder there is no additional electric heater after the change of the panel (thermotronic?) And the car in the middle and the engine warm up for a long time.

Hello all,

Hoping to bring this back to gain some confirmation after digging through this thread. Something I bookmarked and have been wanting to do and a FB post spurred my curiosity to get this figured out. I have a 2005 E320 CDI meaning that I only have Dual Zone Climate Control. My understanding from reading this thread is that I can use a 4 Zone Climate Control Unit but there will be buttons that do not get utilized. It also appears that this "REST" feature is pretty handy. 2118302490 & 2118303290 Appear to be the ones that could work. Can somebody kindly confirm? Is 2118302285 another one that will work? Now with regards to a 2 Zone with a Climate Control the only thing i have been able to find is 2118302290 BUT the issue with that unit is that the knobs are in Celsius. Is there a Fahrenheit version that exists and what is the part # for it? Is it possible to just swap the knobs between my current unit and if I can find one with the "REST" button?

Thank you
