Trading "03 for '04 with navigation. Have a tentative order with local dealer however would like to have an ace in the hole by way of a CA dealership. I understand that Beverly Hills MB rates high in discounts.

Call Mark Barsoomian (sales mgr.) and tell him that Barry reccommended you. You can also try David Pullima who handles all the internet business.
Service is phenomenal and I had absolutley zero hassles with the NAV replacement and got a few goodies thrown in.

Try Penske Motor Cars as well. Lenny Sarmiento is the Fleet Manager and can be reached at (626) 859-1244. Straight shooting kindda guy. We checked out Fletcher Jones and felt like just another number. Customer service left a lot to be desired of. I guess they are too busy to call back. Then again, I am a simple looking very unassuming guy who goes around in shorts, sandals, and a t-shirt. May not fit the profile for Fletcher.
Good Luck!

fj for inventory and selection. however, i think smaller dealerships will be better. they don't force "we sell the most" or make you feel like they're doing you a favor. if you are not in a hurry to buy you'll have the upper hand.

I have had experiences with most every dealership in the Los Angeles area:
Fletcher Jones: Great service, but the most expensive for both repairs and new car purchases. They are not bashful about it either: "we provide more so you pay more." It's just a question if you value what they provide.
Beverly Hills: Varies with the weather. Have had both good and bad experiences.
Downtown MB: Wheelin and dealin. Catch them at the right time of the month and they will give it away. Decent customer service.
MB of Long Beach: Horrible repair center, I think they broke my car as much as they fixed it. But, they are hungry for biz on the sales side and willing to deal.
MB of Calabasas: Decent repair service, and probably the most willing to discount on price.
