Questions on lowering(height,brand,warranty)

What's up guys,
After putting 19" AMGs on, i really like the way it looks. But i keep on thinking of how much better it would look with a little drop. Some members of this forum have helped me out by emailing pics of different drop heights, spring rates etc...and i appreciate that. What is the overall consensus in regards to the best height and brand? Another question-do you void any part of your warranty by doing suspension mods?

Airmatic or no airmatic? If yes, then your dealer should accomodate you by lowering with an ECU mod. They routinely raise or lower the vehicles for customers cars they modify with wheel upgrades that rub a little. Many on this forum say their dealers won't do this, but try speaking to the one or two service reps at your dealership who do the mods and they might lower it for you after regular hours. Lowering the car is not that difficult, but saving the new settings is. It will take about 45 min to 1 hour of trial and error until perfect. This shouldn't affect the warranty.

dr chill,

Is your dealer successful lowering your car via ECU? If so how much lower did it go?

And did you get your grille installed yet?

Any pics?

Thanks.

Yeah, I'm also ....

anxious to know what the general concensus is now. New box or modify the old one? And about how much time on the books? Can I put it back to stock later when it's time to sell? Thanks for the info...

I sent the Expression grille back because I didn't like how it fit. The spoiler was also sent back because it was cracked. I went with the Lorinser grille/spoiler but I'm still waiting for the delivery. I really want to wait until they are installed before the unveiling on this site. The car was lowered 40 mm or 1.6" by the dealer in about 45 minutes. Looks great and should have come from the factory this way.

lowered by 1.6", all around? grille or no grille, your e55 will be the best one around.

Can you provide a step by step instruction on how they lowered your car and maybe I could share it with the so called "Mastertech" here at the west coast.

The only thing I can say is that when I showed up to the dealership and spoke to the shop foreman with the instructions spelled out by stephens in his posts (do a search on lowering), he said he's done this several times for other customers usually when they upgrade to larger wheels. I personally was not there as it was done before I took delivery.
