Battery Life
I've got an 07 E550 built Dec 06. Its still on its factory battery. How long can it last? Should I wait until I'm stuck in a rainy parking lot at night or should I proactively change it now?

Take the car to Autozone/Advance Auto Parts/NAPA and have them test the battery.
In my experience, you will start getting getting low battery messages more often as the battery starts to go.

I'm in the same boat. I feel my 2007 also built 2007, battery has lost it's original might and power despite having done only 35000 miles since new; battery ages regardless and feel we are pushing it after six years. I'll drive over to MB and buy a battery since I have to return new parts I never used.

Battery Life
Hi Barry,
I also own a 2007 E350 and was in the same situation. I decided the battery didn't owe me anything, and just replaced it. Beats getting stuck somewhere.
Especially in the heat of southern florida. Found a reasonable replacement at Pep boys.I think it was around $120.00
When I changed it out I did not have to reprogram anything, which I thought was kind of strange. The 2007 does not have the Auxillary battery.

During change, you can have a spare battery connected. The power to the car is not interruptet and the system does not know that something happened :-)

According to Eligibility section of this pdf file, your car needs to be regularly service at an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership prior to your Roadside Assistance request.
Do you still qualify for this service if you no longer use an authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership to service your car after warranty?

Being an MBRACE member I called them to my home last weekend to replace the battery, which, in hindsight, did not really need replacing, but only because I thought it was over six years old; during replacement, we found it was a 2009 battery and not a 2007, MB must have changed it a couple of years after I bought the vehicle when they replaced the alternator and I did not remember. Crazy, but I paid $338 something for it including tax. My only consolation is it's an OEM and that is now on MB's record that a battery was replaced.
