W211 Tire Advice - quiet ride priority
Time to finally replace the stock ContiTourings that came on my 06 E350 4matic. I'm not really a performance oriented type of driver ... and I suppose these tires were good enough .... but I was hoping someone here could indicate what might be the quitest tire I could go with for my W211?? That's really my top priority ... smooth, quiet ... Any suggestions?

I just replaced the OE Michelins on my 320 with Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus. The ride is buttery smooth and coffin quiet compared to the MXV4s. Hard cornering is fairly predictable too, which surprised me. Highway MPG is about 5% better as well, due to these being LRR.
After running these for about 10K miles, I am very pleased and would buy these tires over and over again.

Replace my tires with Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Position. The ride is pretty smooth and quiet. Downside, it is not good for snow. I am here in Dallas, Texas, we don't get much of snow.
You can always go with Continental ExtremeContact DWS.

I have the Continental ProContact which replaced a set of Michellin Pilot Sports. These Conti's are quieter and handle better than the Michelins - but can't compare them to the others listed.

Quietist tire
Just put Michelin pilot sport 3s on my 2008 E350 Sport Sedan...super quiet and much more comfortable than Conti Sports....top tire in latest Consumer Reports for high performance all season tires.

Have not done a whole bunch of miles, perhaps less than 6K over the last year but no cupping or other problems with staggered low profile Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus all around. If/when it happens, it happens; not particularly bothered; be a while yet for sure.

So far, I like the PS A/S 3's and have not noticed a decrease in ride quality.

Another vote here for the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity. Absolutely no complaints after the better part of a year.

I had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus for tree year and I hate it. Compare to Michelin Pilot Super Sport is like night and day. Michelin Pilot Super Sport is so smooth, so quiet and the handling is the best.

thumbs up on Michelins
I replaced the OEM Continentals about 15K ago with Michelin Pilot HX MXM4, 245/40R 18 size, and they are quiet, turn-in is sharp, etc...a good all season tire.

Mine came with Goodyear Eagle GTs 225/55/16 & now have some Pirelli Cinturato P7 All Seasons 225/60/16, they ride like a marshmallow on a cloud & get excellent highway mileage.

I had Cooper RS3-A's on mine for the past two years, they were noisy as hell!! I just replaced them with Continental Extreme Contact DWS in a 19 (previous were on a factory 18" sport wheel) And the Conti's are hands down a quieter and better riding tire. I will say though, they do feel like they roll over a lot more in the corners than the Coopers did. Which was surprising to me. The coopers had a MUCH more planted feel in the corners than the conti's do!

When I bought mine, it had the Michelin Sport A/S 3 on them. They seem fine and are pretty popular in addition to the Conti's. Tirerack was having a pretty good sale on the old Pirelli Cinturato P7's. they were around $90 a tire before a rebate.

I know I'll get flamebroiled for saying this, but when I purchased my car the tires were Primewell AS sport. Inexpensive tires considering, and to my liking. Since I'm not getting any new shoes' (just not yet) for a while I'll ride them out, and move up to YOKOs' or Michelin.....JMO
