mercedes is now saying that any car with a 112 or 113 engine, or any engine after that, that you are supposed to you pentosin in the p/s except for 170' and 163's. if you have any of those cars, use regular mb p/s fluid.

any Dextron III ATF will do...
My MY02 service products manual states that you can use either the
MB power steering fluid (PN 000-989-88-03) or an approved Dextron III ATF. The list of approved Dextron III ATF is as follows:

If a search returns this information, I would post a new thread too. What good is this information? There are no model details, 2002? Obviously, MB has updated some things over the last 5 years.
The MB bulletin of 2006 states quite clearly that not just any Dextron III ATF will do.

I didn't see the 126's mentioned.
I always use MB fluids, even when I don't care to pay for them, Am I also waisting dollars?

I think the 126 would be in the group needing BQ 14600001, as it is a re-circulating ball steering box, but I'm not sure. I don't think it's a waste of dollars, it can be bit more, but the alternative expense is much greater.

It is a very very bad idea to mix Pentosin (MB ATF fluid) with Dexron ATF.
These two are incompatible and will kill the PS pump.
Now, while Daimler-Chrysler were together they developed ATF+4, which I believe was used as PSF on both brands....so it's important to check by the chassis.
The older Euro cars, pre 1996, used Dexron III. Dex 6 or ATF+4 is the newer replacement....some might want Mobil 1 ATF but not much to be gained over the other 2 synth spec OEM ATFs.
Let me know if anyone has more specifics on year and model range.
