Just purschased 03 E500, have a few questions.

I'll spend the weekend browsing over the manual. But had a question on A/C. The blower seems to be blowing, but there is no cold air. This was disclosed by the PO. Is there a fuse or setting that I might be able to look at. I was told to replace the entire unit would be around 1400 plus.

2nd question what mechanics are recommended in the Hawthorne, Redondo, Manhattan Beach area?

Can't recommend a mechanic, but firstly, you need to search the forums before asking if you don't want to get flamed"

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...rol-valve.html
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...3-e320-ac.html

...and that's just the sticky here and a very recent post

Welcome to the forums!

Why did you buy it in first place. 03 500 in good condition goes for $8000. I would understand if you got it for $6000 but man you got yourself a huge bill on top of it. No such thing as a fuse. If its a fuse I'm pretty sure the previous owner would have fix it before selling it cuz it's not that difficult and expensive. When you buy a used car make sure everything works, pay attention to the noises it makes, push every switch on and off.. Especially with such premium car. This ain't honda! That's a v8 executive luxury sedan. This car was made for a wealthy owner back in a days. And back then owner was on warranty, you're not.

Yes I know the bill can be huge, car was clean and low miles. Everything I found had 110 thousand for 9000-11000.

I heard that there could be numerous problems with airmatic suspension. The compressor could go out, those shocks can lose fluid.

Since I bought my E550, I've replaced my serpentine belt, idler pulley, pads & rotors, airmatic compressor, front and rear struts, airmatic compressor relay, airmatic release valve system, oil centrifuge cover, spark plugs, coils, CV boots, brake light indicator switch, and a few other things I can't remember. Being an 03 you probably have all these things coming your way, but once you get the car back up to speed you should be fine, just expect that these cars are reliable but not cheap to maintain. I also drive my car hard but it's meant to be. I am also do for one of the following: battery/alternator/voltage regulator/bcm. This is due to a warning that came up yesterday, just be ready and get Arnott parts when your airmatic does go out, or get coilovers from KW or Bilstein. I think a set of Bilstein B16 RideControl iRCs (these are insane and are adjustable, Pinebaron has them) which are super high-end are probably cheaper than replacing each airmatic component. Depends also on if you have 4-matic or not.

Thanks for the tip and help, really informative. I will search for the Arnott parts for the airmatic system. If im reading this correctly, I can replace the airmatic for a set of high end bilsteins b16 ride control iRc's. I do need a new set of shocks soon.

Wow just looked them up, they are pricey. Look nice but a little too much for me at this point.

So with the Arnotts, its a complete conversion, no longer adjustable? I'm I understanding it correctly?

In all honesty the price of the Bilstein iRCs, which can replace your stock AirMatic suspension where you will loose adjustability via the car's button but gain it through their system, are probably less than replacing every AirMatic component. As for the Arnotts, it is not a conversion per-se, they are just lifetime warranty and strengthened versions of the OEM air struts and bags, so they are fully adjustable and ride/work exactly like the original parts. However, don't replace them until the need arises, no purpose unless you have that kind of money to throw at it.
